\\ Isaiah: "Let me give you some lessons on how to pose, Okay? Number 1, squint your eyes a little & bring your hand to your face, like so. See that? That's called, talent!" Me: "Really? What happened in the second picture then?" Isaiah: "I wasn't ready." Me: "Okay. I'm sorry. And the last one?" Isaiah: "Ohh, that's when you bring out.... The stare." Me: "..... The stare? Uh, okay. How do you do it?" Isaiah: "You just stare." ((Continues staring))👀😂 // Gosh, I love this baby. 😍
Young Cillian Murphy 🍀Happy St Patrick's Day🍀 thank you to my bro 📷@joseibarrarizo 📷for this beautiful shot 🙏🏼
A lot of people don't know I'm Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 and Irish 🇮🇪 - growing up mixed and passing for 'white', most people I've met have guessed I'm Italian or Jewish; some #Latinx folk can tell I'm hispanic, but at times ambiguously ('maybe he's Colombian? 🤷♀️🤷♂️') - while I found in Cuba 🇨🇺 and PR, more assumed I was one of their own.
I'm proud of both my Irish 🍀 and my Puerto Rican 🐸 heritage. ❤️ Both peoples have rich cultures and histories of resistance, diaspora, and struggle I'm proud of: both emerald isles, both colonized by imperial forces (🇬🇧,🇺🇸) both vital immigrant contributors to the US culture and identity (from the Kennedys to Hip Hop y más) and both crucial parts of the story of Paper City 🔥@papercitymovie that has been so pivotal in my life.
One of my biggest takeaways from this holiday? Be proud of who you are 🌿..
Being #mixed is a big part of the Puerto Rican #diaspora experience. Many ask us if we're "full Puerto Rican" or not, which always feels a bit problematic, like trying to cut water with a knife.. my mom would always tell me when I was little, "there's no such thing as 'half Puerto Rican'-- if you're '1% Puerto Rican', you're full Puerto Rican" -- because being Puerto Rican means being mixed already (our people are #Taíno 🌎 #Spanish 🇪🇸 and #African 🌍); because being of one heritage doesn't diminish being of another as well (you can be both!); because being Puerto Rican is also about your love for the Puerto Rican people and homeland, and perhaps most importantly****no matter what people think or say, I should always be proud of my heritage, my people, and where I come from. ✨Peace and prosperity to all peoples worldwide. 🌏🌍🌎
