I spent the weekend in Mexico. In Valle de Guadalupe. Here are some cactuses I met outside a winery called Xecué. For the next few days I’ll only be posting pictures from my weekend. Why? Well firstly, I took so many. And secondly: on the last day my camera lens popped.
Adam Goldberg (@alifewortheating) once told @eater “Its amazing to me this country (Mexico) is so close yet it remains largely undiscovered. Every time I travel there, I feel like I’m making a bunch of new discoveries. People have this conception that they understand it, but I do believe that it remains overlooked.” ———————————————————————————He was talking about food, and a bit about the country as a whole, and we couldn’t agree more. Especially when it comes to the states of Baja California Norte & Baja California Sur, where - when it comes to food and travel - life is split in two.———————————————————————————Baja Norte has Tijuana (tacos), the wine country of Valle de Guadalupe (you didn’t know? Mexico has sick wines!) and Ensenada (seafood heaven). Baja Sur has the mega touristy Cabo San Lucas (all inclusive resorts), it’s younger, cooler sister San José del Cabo, and the sleepy, boho-chic, artsy village of Todos Santos (think The Eagles 1976 hit “Hotel California”) ———————————————————————————Did we mention you also have not one but two bodies of water to choose from? The gorgeous turquoise Sea of Cortez to the east and the vast blue Pacific Ocean to the west: surf, dive, fish, snorkel, sail and sunbathe in either.———————————————————————————Two states, two different travel experiences, one thing in common: superb food, wine, hotels, art, culture, deserts and beaches. ———————————————————————————All photos by @benjaminheath from a @bonappetitmag piece called “A Guide To Baja, Mexico, the Land of Incredible Seafood (and Tacos) by @kurtsoller
