Another day, another bowl.
I love Asian-inspired meals because it’s SO easy to add a variety of vegetables. This one Kyle cooked up was crispy tofu (with chili sauce of course), roasted edamame, green cabbage, and onion, pickled red cabbage, cucumber, carrots, and a few seaweed chips, all over rice. You won’t have leftovers, just a warning.
When was the last time you got a physical? Blood work? Tests? Dr. visit? 🤔
We get a physical once a year and a couple of blood tests a year to see where our cholesterol, glucose, hemoglobin, triglycerides and other numbers are. It’s preventive not because we’re sick.
The hubs had his tests done this weekend and his triglycerides came back a little high. What does the wife do? She goes psycho health but on him and starts the healthy eating regimen ASAP like a corrections officer.
Yeah, I might be exaggerating (no I’m not), but the point is, I will do anything and everything to fix what’s broken when it comes to health and wellness.
As I’ve mentioned before, my husband tends to have high cholesterol and that was the reason why we became vegetarian almost 5 years ago. He was taking meds to lower it (about 3 months) and I was not ready to live the medication life for something that can be resolved with diet.
He’s been doing really good since the change but every once in a while when we go rogue on our healthy habits (like holidays or vacations or winter 😂) his numbers go up a bit.
So, if you’ve been with me from the beginning of this account, you know there’s times when we are more strict with our eating, this is one of those times; ever since thanksgiving we’ve been giving in to take out, desserts and social drinking 🍻🥂🍷and it took somewhat of a toll on our health.
Today we started the day with our green juice (as usual) and for lunch we had these salads that had: mixed greens, raw green beans, tomato, cooked beets, raw pumpkin and sunflower seeds, avocado and the dressing is : •raw cashews •lemon •apple cider vinegar •garlic •nutritional yeast •salt & pepper •Dijon mustard •soy sauce (or tamari) and •water all blended until creamy.
We had fruit for dessert, later an afternoon snack of fruits and nuts will be perfect 👌🏼
If you haven’t had your blood test this year or in a few years, do it now because we don’t know how our insides are doing, we can only see the outside ☝🏼.
