Happy 5 year vegan anniversary to me!! 5 years ago today I made a choice that changed my life for the better. I wanted to make a change and start taking care of my self. I didn’t know anything about being a vegan. All I wanted to do was eat better and be healthy. I came across a video about a 3 day juice detox from @rawvana and decided to do it and have that be the reset to my new health journey. I remember craving actual food during the 2nd day of just juices so I would go and watch her and @fullyrawkristina Videos of their recipes and think of all of the raw vegan dishes I was going to make after this cleanse was over. lol I didn’t even know what a raw vegan was but i became so fascinated in the many ways you can create amazing dishes from raw fruits and veggies! Before the cleanse was over I started doing my own research about a vegan lifestyle, and boy did that changed my life forever! I became more aware of the benefits of this lifestyle not only for my self, but everything that’s living! I became aware of where my food came from and how I did not want to support torture and cruelty no more! And that’s when I made the connection and chose to live a cruelty free life from there on. I'm so happy I made that choice! Knowing that you can still live a life without harming other sentient beings it's beyond amazing to me! 💕💚🌱
That elusive connection…
I must admit, whilst in a conversation this morning with a friend I said something that was so true, so deep, and so elusive until that moment.
I was saying to him how, it seems that most of us have lost the connection between our heart, our soul, our physical body, what were putting into that physical body, the thought process, the verbal process, the behavioral process, and then the action process!I know on first glance that looks like it’s just too much! But, in reality it is our foundation and our basis for our life right NOW!
As the words were coming out, I realized at that moment, how I was able to eat myself up to 260 lb which now seems like a lifetime ago!? I said to him I didn’t realize (at the time) how, what I was eating was affecting my body? And then I thought, how could I not make that connection? In that moment it dawned on me that, my mind, my soul and my physical body were not connected. Not in a way where how I was feeling was connected to what I was eating?
And I know you understand what I mean because, you’re doing the same thing, right? It’s unfortunate that we believe complacency and doctors, medications, and fad diets are going to help us? But unfortunately, nothing can ever put your body back to its healthy, natural, energetic, and beautiful state as eating beautiful food, lots of water and moving your amazing machine which is of course your amazing body!
I know, I know! It’s so hard, you’re too tired, you don’t feel well at all.. but, you’re never going to feel any better if you do not do the work to reconnect your heart, your mind, your mouth, your physical body and what you’re putting into it!
You see? It is all connected!! Just because we’re not feeling that connection does not mean it is not real.

A post in memory of Molly, a little pig who was horribly betrayed by those that promised to care for her...as well as the 56 billion (think about that number for a second) other “food” animals we commoditize and slaughter annually. Austin Forget (Molly’s “owner”) represents moral bankruptcy (and likely psychopathy) in the highest...and I hope with everything in me that he reaps the same mercilessness that he sowed...but he did nothing to her that the vast majority of us don’t pay others to do to her brethren every single day. If your heart hurts like mine does over what happened to Molly, then PLEASE make the connection between us, and her, and all the animals that are seen as nothing other than ours to do as we please with. Rest in paradise little one....I’m so sorry we all let you down 💗 PS. As for the “humane slaughter” nonsense being associated with Molly’s death, “To examine whether something is ‘humane,’ first determine if you would want it done to you.” If the answer’s “no” in this case, then (respectfully)...shut the f**k up ✌🏼#maketheconnection#bethechange#compassion#friendsnotfood#animals#animallover#voiceforthevoiceless#kindnessrules
I’m not really a fan of shopping these days but sometimes ya run out of toothpaste & skincare 🤷🏼♀️ Trying to steer clear of as many nasties as possible and treat my skin and teeth with natural and organic products. Better for me, better for the environment 💙🌏 @mymagicmud @grantsofaustralia @dr_organic @thewonderseed
#Repost from @activistvegan How do you know if a particular food is healthy? Well, imagine eating nothing else but that one food item and see how you feel after a year.
This man was a junk food vegan for over 7 years, suffering from obesity, anxiety, depression and self-diagnosed food addiction. He therefore decided to switch to a whole food plantbased diet, consisting of only cooked potatoes (no oil)! What happens to him over the course of 1 year is literally incredible.
Maybe instead of putting patients on a cocktail of 10+ drugs and surgically mutilating them for weight loss, diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, etc., we can just put them on an all potato diet for a year. Not only would it be more effective, it would be much more cost effective. 😉 Cooked starches like tubers are, after all, what really made us human (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3189454/The-secret-man-s-intelligence-POTATOES-Humans-evolved-large-brains-ancestors-ate-starchy-carbohydrates.html) 🥔.

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE YOUR POWER, YOUR VOICE! ❤️🌱
Repost from @shereen_gws ・・・
Here's a clip from an amazing youtube speech called "the power of youtube" found on the vegan activist youtube page. Everyone should check it out. Every vegan or person curious in Veganism has a voice. We are all powerful and have the ability to make such a big impact on this planet and our future. Don't underestimate your power and the impact you can have on people.
Everyone vegan has a unique perspective that others need to hear about what led them to being cruelty free. The planet and animals needs as much help as possible and as soon as possible. It didn't take baby steps to get us in this predicament and won't take baby steps to get us out. We will need a huge revolution of the mind and in order to achieve this we need an army of compassionate soldiers fighting for what's right.
Whether you are a raw vegan, cocked vegan, ethical vegan, dietary vegan, plant based or whatever else we are all on the same team and need to stand together to get the message out as soon as possible.
EMBRACE VEGANISM! BE ACTIVE! 🌱

I truly wish people could understand how cruel zoos are. I realized how ethically wrong they were after going to a zoo in West Palm Beach, Florida a few years ago.
I took my camera, excited to capture some animated and lively animals. It was a hot day and I grew very exhausted by the sun and didn't get many photos I felt were great. The animals seemed lethargic that day and understandably so at 90+ degree weather. It wasn't until I got home and viewed my photos, reflecting on my day, did I realize that as uncomfortable and hot I was during certain parts of the day, that I had somewhere to go home to; to relax and get away from the sweltering weather. I realized that these animals don't. They're always on display for us to marvel and gawk at as long as people are willing to pay money to see them. Their lives, at the end of the day, isn't for themselves, but for human monetary gain. It really depressed me to think about the fact that these animals have no true free will of their own. Their free will only extends to the boundaries we allow for them. You can argue that everyone who works there truly cares for them and no doubt, I'm sure they do. It might be nice to see an exotic animal before our eyes, yes, but it morally and ethically just makes more sense that we accept that they can and should be able to be free in nature, without human interference.
Who are we to decide that we can take an animal away from his/her natural habitat and use them for our own gain? There's NO strength in exerting our power over vulnerable creatures for our own gain. What that is is selfish and greedy and that to me, is WEAKNESS and LACK OF INTELLIGENCE, something we humans think we have so much of.
Reconsider going to a zoo and why it is necessary to treat animals this way. It just isn't.
