An invitation suite designed for @myonelove’s workshop from a few weeks back. Think black tie soiree at a gorgeous estate on a hill in wine country with magnificent view of the valley. We were thinking something modern and sophisticated, combining organic hand crafted elements such as modern calligraphy, hand torn papers, watercolor undertone and wax seal, with a sleek finish with thin satin ribbons, all caps modern font, and a mix of luxe formal burgundy and deep plum envelopes.
Alrighty, now off to sipping my glass of wine.
Time to use your imagination. Think back to school days. Every day at lunchtime your class, along with a few other classes, would go to lunch at your designated time. If you were eating the school lunch, you would grab a tray and make your way thru the line. Once you got your food you’d head to your table to eat. Everyone always made it thru the line in a timely manner and had plenty of time to finish eating.
Now let’s change our thought process. Imagine what it would have been like, if everyday at the same time the principal made an announcement for the entire school...
- “Please make your way to the cafeteria, lunch is ready.”
Picture it. Kids rushing to the cafeteria and standing in line forever. How long do you think it would have taken to get everyone thru the line? Do you think it would be possible to gain control and have a successful school day after lunch time? Or do you think that there would be a little bit of chaos?
It would probably be a little chaotic, huh? -
People! This is exactly what happens at weddings when when you don’t use table numbers. Using table numbers and having assigned seating are two totally different things.
Although I am a fan of assigned seating, it isn’t necessary for every wedding. If you are having 130+ guests and you are having a buffet, PLEASE USE TABLE NUMBERS. The sole purpose is to be able to dismiss your tables in an orderly fashion. -
Dismissing your guests table by table actually takes less time than when you allow people to get in line at their own will. It allows the caterer to slide in with ease and refill their pans and also makes it easier for your coordinator/DJ to maintain control and keep the night flowing seamlessly.
