Big Sky at Night
It's no secret that when you separate yourself from the noise of the big city you also separate yourself from light pollution. Don't believe in light pollution? Step out into our mountains after the sun goes down and see for yourself.
One of the biggest features to observe in our night sky is the Milky Way. Just not the tails but the EYE of the Milky Way and it's only visible in the Northern Hemisphere from about Mid April till Mid October. You'll know it when you see it.
For photographers, shooting in such low light can be challenging and a camera body with high ISO values is a must, along with fast lenses and a good tripod. That doesn't mean you need a ton of expensive gear tho' to enjoy the views. Quite the contrary.
One of the best places to view a night sky is right up Camp Bird Road near our Ouray Victorian Inn. We recommend you bring a fold out chair, cheese, crackers and maybe a bottle of wine. Take some time, breath, decompress and let your eyes adjust to the marvels that are above Ouray almost every night. With 285 days of sunshine per year, you can just about bet your next stay with us will deliver the goods.#ouray#colorado#lodging#hotel#nightsky#skyline#petfriendly#adventure#epic#inn
