What’s the best way to impress your big brother? Apparently, if you are three, writing his name on your arm seems like the best idea. 👦🏻🖊💪🏻
Rusty sat at the table for twenty minutes with a scribbled piece of practice paper before he took to writing his version of “EZEKIEL” on his forearm.
(I’m not sure Zeke was suitably impressed for all the effort it took. 🤷🏻♀️)
Ever feel like you are on the outside looking in? You feel like the little brother who wants to be included in a game of Settlers of Catan, but you can’t because you aren’t even 2 years old yet. But you feel you should be included in the brother’s game. .
It’s humbling to watch my kids, as the greatest robber of joy is when they see what someone else is doing. They want to paint like their sister, build like their brother, be included in this and that. .
And yet, that’s not always how it works. Some things just aren’t for me...at least yet. .
The more we can OWN what God has for us NOW, the more peace and joy we will have in our days. .
Your day will come, sweet Bjorn. Just a bit more growing to do.
Happy birthday, Colt! I can’t believe you’ve only been in our lives 3 years. We don’t even remember what life was like before your infectious grin, silliness, imagination, and incessant questions. You’re all boy with love for monster trucks, dinosaurs, and fire trucks. We’re now just accepting the fact that you bring half the sandbox home in your shoes every day and your face never lacks dirt or the snack you just ate. We love the little boy you’re growing up to be! Happy third birthday, Colty!
