The Beach/ Sea/ Lake is medicinal to my soul.
1. Going to the beach reduces stress.
Water is nature’s cure to life’s stressors. It’s full of naturally occurring positive ions that are known for having the ability to make you feel at ease. So whether you jump in for a swim or simply dip your toes in the water, you’re sure to experience a feeling of relaxation. That’s one instant mood booster we could all use from time to time!
2. The beach boosts your creativity
Feeling like you’re in a creative rut? Well, scientists now believe that the solution to this is the beach. Being in blue space allows you to clear your head and approach problems or projects in a more creative way. Much like meditation, the beach triggers a feeling of calmness that allows you to tune everything else out and reflect on what it is you’ve been needing to focus on.
3. Going to the beach can help reduce feelings of depression
Much like the effects that the beach has on feelings of stress and creative ruts, the beach also provides some relief to feelings of depression. The hypnotic sound of the waves in combination with the sight and smells of the beach can put you into a meditative space. In turn, you can clear your mind and reflect on life in a safe space away from the chaos of your daily life.
4. Overall, spending time at the beach will change your perspective on life
And that perspective is going to change for the better! Nature in general has always been a factor in healthy happy lives, but the beach in particular is so good for the soul.
I read Grace not Perfection by Emily Ley over vacation and it’s a life-changer!
Why do we kill ourselves trying to do it all? We over schedule and stress ourselves out and don’t focus on what’s really important some days. We spend too much time on social media looking at how perfect some people’s lives are and wish for more! But no one has a perfect life. Like unicorns, a perfect life doesn’t exist.
Life is hard. And we need to be content with the small joys that God has given us... children’s laughter, health to do daily activities, dog kisses. True, it’s gosh darn difficult when working full time and out every night with kids’ activities not to be stressed BUT there are ways to combat it.
Simplify life and de clutter.
Only keep what you need.
Physical clutter is mental clutter.
How much time are you wasting on social media that could be spent getting a chore done or reading a book? Detach for a bit. Put your phone in a drawer at night. This is something I definitely need to do!!
Don’t multitask because you usually end up doing things half- a$$ed. (Yup- me again). Do one thing at a time.
There are so many takeaways from this book about life, appreciating it, slowing down, making time for friends and family, and getting your routine and schedule on track...essentially getting your life on track!!!! I highly recommend this book to all the stressed moms out there, especially if you are a working mom trying to juggle it all. I’m off now to get my long list of things done as I prepare for the week ahead, doing one thing at a time...and completing these tasks. the best I can without trying to be perfect! #gracenotperfection#momstruggles#noneedtobeperfect#destress#taketime#getontrack#amustread#liberating#strategies#routines#declutteryourlife
My phone was stolen last week.
I could have wallowed in a pity party. In victim mode.
I could have sat in anger, frustration & lack.
And I fucking DID - for awhile.
Then I DECIDED to EMBRACE the situation, ADAPT and be HAPPY anyway.
My God was it #liberating
I get to CHOOSE how I REACT.
I get to CHOOSE how I want to FEEL.
I get to practise #resilience
I certainly learnt a lot in this past week and I am very grateful for the insights, the peace & presence & the shift in my life.
I spend FAR too much time on my phone - mostly out of #habit
I feel so much more #connected , #alive , #present and #happy when I'm not on an electronic device.
I will be setting #boundaries around my Internet & social media use & spend more time disconnecting to reconnect with ME.
I LOVE connecting with people online & sharing my message BUT I need to find the right BALANCE for me.
How about YOU?
have you re-evaluated your screen time lately?
Have you turned a bad experience into a positive ?
I'd love to hear!
I did a thing ✂️.... ✨CHANGE IS GOOOOOOD!!✨ So many fears kept coming through before chopping it. All the stories "you're going to look old, your bf is going to think you're ugly, you're going to loose your sex appeal". All the things I could have listened to before liberating myself and feeling AMAZING. 🤔🤔sounds very familiar to having a breakthrough.
Oh wait, it WAS!
My self-limiting beliefs and thinking could have allowed me to continue to play small and hold on to hair as a "part of who I actually am". Hold the fuck up!
My hair doesn't define me. Who I am shines from within. My hair is an extension of me and how I choose to express myself.
Don't let your patterns keep you from playing small. Just another amazing, yet powerful example of what happens before we have a breakthrough.
Whatever it is, DO IT, and embrace the shit out of it.
Loving my new flow, thanks to my girl Allison Kalnins for always keeping my hair game tight.
You know why girls wear black? I used to coz it felt like I was able to hide everything I didn’t want to see. It hid the ugly lumps and bumps, it allowed me to hide how much I neglected myself, it hid the physical manifestation of the #sadness that I allowed to consume my life. I didn’t put a stop to it - I allowed it. I hid behind the #mommy card and stuck around in a horrible situation “for the kids” while dying inside. Nothing was going to change so really, it was my responsibility to save myself and get out. I understand the meaning of #happinessisaninsidejob - this #fatloss journey was never about trying to live up to other people’s expectations - I’ve always had #zerofucks to give on how other people see me 🤷🏻♀️😁I’ve been THAT girl who bought clothes according to (1) if it fits (2)how well it hid my fat and then (3) price. Shopping for clothes made me think about the person I was - I was someone who made #excuses instead of take responsibility for my own happiness. I hated KNOWING I’d bought into all the #bullshit I kept telling myself and had accepted defeat. Fast forward 1.5yrs and here we are. I’ve buried that old me...now I am as #strong as I choose to be, I will build myself into who I say I want to be, and this is just the beginning🔥🔥.
Thank you @davemays1 for taking such good care of me with your #mealprep and everything else in between - in a blink of an eye, it’s been a year...thank you for being my rock, I feel so #blessed to have you in my life. Feels like I’ve #finallymadeit out the dark. The incredible burden is lifted and for how this feels I think every bit of work on this #transformation to become my #bestversion was totally worth it - it’s #liberating . This post isn’t about fishing for compliments. It’s about a journey to #love#lovingyourself is the first step to finding yourself again. Once you’re found you are #free It was always more than about looking good 💪🏼😉💖 anyone ready for a new life, you know we’re here to help get you off to a good start. Back in October I read the book #thefouragreements by @donmiguelruiz and it has given me a complete mindshift and has been absolutely freeing! Even if you don’t read the book, take a quick read of these 4 practical lessons, apply them to your life and see the difference they make. 📚 #gisellesbookclub#personalgrowth#liberating
Stepped waaayyy outside of my comfort zone and chopped my hair off!😱 As long as I can remember my hair has acted as my “security blanket”. As I gained more and more weight throughout the years, I used my hair to help cover fat on my arms and back. Never wanted to cut it in fear short hair would make my face look bigger.
Well, I feel differently now. I wanted to cut my hair, so I did - and I have no regrets! I haven’t had short hair like this since 1st grade! I can no longer cover my arms or back with my hair and I’m OK with that.☺️
In other exciting news: I’m officially ⬇️ 6️⃣1️⃣.5️⃣ lbs this morning!!🙌🏼💪🏼 #weightlossjourney#healthylifestyle#fitfam#onedayatatime#onepoundatime#onestepatatime#slowandsteady#newhairwhodis#liberating

This card has come to me 3 times in less than a month. Healing old family wounds is never easy, but it's so liberating at the same time. My prayers lately has been that the veil be lifted, so I can be an even better version of myself and that anything I need to heal in my life that's hindering and holding me back to please present itself to me and boy has it... It's been hard, it's been real, but it's been beautiful and so worth it.❤ #wildsouloracle#universehasyourback
