It's Love Your Pet Day! It's also the end of a very long, very complicated week. Whenever something good would happen, it would seem like 2 more bad things would happen. Best news, I got asked to go on a paid photography excursion in New Zealand! Bad news, one of my best friends was supposed to come visit me in Jackson during those exact dates. After that, a series of unfortunate events occured almost all at the same time. I spilled water all over my laptop. It's fried. My whole life is on that thing. Also, I got the flu. I was disgusting, add that to all the ugly crying I'd been doing. Then my cat spilled a plant on my already dead computer keyboard. My gopro isn't working. I have little time and money to get ready for New Zealand. I was banking on a tax return and instead I owe money.
Looking back on last week it all sounds a little silly (except my computer. That really sucks.) I sat multiple times on my bedroom floor wailing about how life isn't fair and all this shit always happens to me. I even told my cat I hated her a couple different times. But yesterday she curled into bed with me under the covers during my Pity-Myself Nap and the power of a purring cat has never been so strong. I realize that I've been given the opportunity of a lifetime. Anyone who knows me knows New Zealand has been on the top of my list. In my Valentine's Day post I talked about best life decisions and I have a strong feeling deciding to go on this trip will one of my top 3 best life decisions.
Anyone who's made it this far in my ramblings, what do you think your best life decision was? I'm honestly just curious. Getting out of an abusive relationship? Going to a certain college? Moving to Jackson Hole? Those are pretty much mine so far! Oh. And getting a cat.
2.19.18 trail conditions from @friendsofpathways ... after trying to stay ahead of the storm for a few days we got a good track in on Hagen, Hagen Highway, Sidewalk, and Lower Cache Creek Road. Should set up nicely for the week. Thanks to your hard work and dedication to grooming #fatbike#fatbikefunzone#lettheoutsidein#cycling#jacksonhole#thatsWY
Who wants more storage for their #fourwheelcamper while you are camping? And it only costs a few dollars - yeah! Just put some heavy duty sticky back Velcro (the loop soft side) on the back support of the camper (see where we placed ours in the pic) Then attach the rough part of the velcro to the back of some command hooks and voila!! You have an adjustable storage/hanging system. You can move the hooks around as needed and just pop them off when you want to pop the camper down. We hang trash, jackets, portable speakers etc. Works great! @fwcjh @fourwheelcampers
I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that the Chic Chocs are on the east coast... these mountains are huge and have so much potential // If you look closely, you can see @ljstrenio making turns in the shadow of the beasts // #LetTheOutsideIn
Can't live without SUNLIGHT at home. ⠀
Wood and other natural materials bounce the light around the room, reflecting its warmth. ⠀
Last day of half term holiday and one child has a cold, so taking the rare opportunity to be still at home, enjoying the sunny view. ⠀
Home sweet home.
As for gear: Feathered Friends -25F Ptarmigan Sleeping Bag, Thermarest Neoair XTherm Pad, CiloGear 45L Worksack backpack, Icelantic Vanguard backcountry skis, and a Grabber Space Blanket tarp: all made in the USA, all awesome.
