Does anyone else look for alternative gifts to a mountain of chocolate eggs at Easter? This year, as well as the usual pyjama present, the kids are keen to be able to camp outside together for the night. We’ve done this a ton of times back home in our backyard but this will be the first time on the road. In lieu of their own body weight in chocolate (they get one big egg and some little ones in an Easter Egg Hunt) we agreed to buy a couple of tents and some airbeds. Fortunately, we’ve managed to not break the bank pulling this together, and Tracey even got some bunting – because apparently that makes it more fun. The kids certainly seemed to think so when we set things up to take a photo before they spent an hour practicing camping and playing Connect4 & Uno as the sun set. I’m thinking one more $14 red dome and their tent city will be perfect.
red tent $14 blue tent $35 single airbeds $8 bean bag $19 fleece throws $5 bunting $5 Connect4 $25 Uno $7 cushions $5/$10 hex lamp $12 bunny ears $3 pjs/nighties $3-$10
They won’t tell you fairytales of how girls can be dangerous and still win. They will only tell you stories where girls are sweet and kind and reject all sin. I guess to them its a terrifying thought, a red riding hood who knew exactly what she was doing when she invited the wild in ↟-Nikita Gill #girlsofthewild
Ever since Michael's mother was diagnosed with celiac, we've been quickly introduced to the wonderful world of gluten-free everything. While neither of us is gluten intolerant ourselves, we're now a lot more aware of people who are.
Which got us thinking about backpacking food...What type of options are there for people who need to avoid gluten? Do they need to make everything themselves from scratch?
We were surprised to learn that there are actually quite a few options available! So we crunched the numbers again (like we did with vegan backpacking food), so you can see which meals give you the best nutritional value by weight.
So if you or somebody who know likes to backpack, but needs to leave the gluten behind, this is the resource they need! Link to article in our profile. 👆
A photo of Mt. Whitney from last spring as I was getting eaten alive by mosquitos! I don’t really get the urge to summit many mountains but this peak really strikes an interest in me. Looks a little out of my skill set though... 😬

// just as the moisture of the melting snow reaches the roots of a plant coming out of dormancy and help it grow into its full bloom, let us help each other grow out of our own dormancy and bloom! #bangsblitz
Temps dropped to the teens last night, and we haven’t had hookups for our heater. After being in isolation mode for a bit we’re looking forward to being back in civilization! We love being out in nature, but after awhile being in the middle of nowhere makes you feel a little cray cray. 🤪
We’re heading to Moab to @wwoofusa at our next farm. Yes, we will be working with goats again. And we’re SO excited to get our fix. We’re hoping for a few kids. 🤗🐐
Where are some good places to explore in Moab? Best restaurants? Breweries/Bars? Preferably with beer over 3% abv. 😜🍻 #LostInTrillium
Sometimes, I leave the bus for a day to head out on an adventure. Today’s adventure is going to NYC with some friends. I imagine that, when I am gone and the bus is empty, a ‘Toy Story’ like scenario ensues... all the plants and knickknacks in the closets come to life.
Doesn't get much more relaxing than this! Beautiful shot by @theomarlostory laying on top of his Lawson Hammock. Did you know you can use our #BlueRidgeCampingHammock as a regular hammock, without the arch poles, bug netting and rainfly? #Versatility

Inspired by the lanterns that have guided tradespeople for decades, the @barebonesliving beacon borrows functional elements from both fisherman and coal miner styles to create a lantern that is beautiful as well as durable. The beacon can run for 200 hours before it's battery needs a recharge, and comes in three colors.
