#HumansOfTheKOG ”I am Marije Bedaux, Career Advisor at Leiden Law School.
People have interest me for a long time and I like to observe my surroundings and people's behaviors. How do people think? What moves them to do things in a certain way? I prefer to be outside or to be travelling. To observe people. To broaden my perspective. To get energized.
Also in my work I have gotten inspiration through people and their behavior. Getting people motivated to act and connect with each other. It is something that will always keep me intrigued. I believe in combining different activities and interests, whether related to career-building or the private sphere. It keeps you sharp, active and energetic and enables you to take your place within society. A tip for the recent graduates: think in possibilities rather than in limitations when you are looking for a job. Dare to dream! Happy New Year!” #leidenlaw#leidenlawschool#universiteitleiden#leidenuniversity#careercoach#coach#universitylife
#HumansOfTheKOG ”Hello, my name is Junior Degen. I am a 24 years old Tax and Dutch Law student and the current Dutch Judo Champion. I started law school being an athlete. I tried to qualify for the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro 2016, but unfortunately I didn’t succeed. After that, at the end of 2016, I decided to quit judo at top level and to fully focus on my study. I added the Tax Law Bachelor, moved to Leiden and built my new life here. All without any regrets. There have been a lot of important things judo and the athlete lifestyle thought me. Discipline is the most important one, hard work pays off. It doesn’t matter if it is sports or anything else in life.
Last September I wanted to participate at the National Championships again. I tried to pick up my old lifestyle for a couple of weeks and that turned out to be quite successful. On the 30th of September I became National Judo Champion for the 6th time.”🥋#leidenlaw#law#leidenlawschool#universiteitleiden#leiden#leidenuniversity#studentlife#lawstudent#judo#champion
#HumansOfTheKOG “Hi, my name is Koen Hamelink and I’ve just graduated cum laude in Corporate Law last August. In December I’m beginning as a M&A lawyer at the law firm Houthoff in Rotterdam. My hobbies – triathlon, playing the piano and chess – only have in common that they’re quite the individual endeavors, which is something that seems to occur a lot in our line of work. For the past year I’ve helped organize several things such as the twentieth lustrum and the 100th anniversary of the faculty study association J.F.V. Grotius, where I’ve been quite active in my six years as a student. We’ve got a lot of nice things plannend and I hope to see you there. To me, it feels like a good way to bid this place and all you fine people good bye!” 🙋🏼♂️
One of my hobbies is being creative 🎬 The past couple of years it has mostly been through photography 📸 (ask my boyfriend @roccco88 he has been victim and bystander no.1 😇🙊)
But besides working on personal projects, I can use my creativity and make little things with other creative minded people through the social media team of Leiden Law School 😊
Last week we filmed short clips of different staff members and now it has become a cool congratulations clip to recent bachelor graduates 🎥which will be shown tomorrow at the LLB graduation ceremony 😎 This is a picture of me and @saresque shooting 😄
Honestly, if I could have a job on the side working as a photographer and perhaps even filmmaker it would make me super happy 😇 Who knows, maybe I get to do that one day 😊 #creativity#photography#filming#leiden#lawschool#leidenlaw#socialmediateam#dreams#havingdreamsisimportant#saycheese #📸#🎥 #🎬
#HumansOfTheKOG : "Hello, I'm Kelly, a third year Criminology student. Currently I am trying to combine my study with an internship at John van den Heuvel (crime journalist), where I help parents who are looking for their kidnapped child. Since a few weeks I am also working for the Leiden police as a student ambassador and as a blogger for 'het Leids Kwartiertje'. Next to these study activities I am very passionate about food and travelling. I write about these subjects on my own blog: 'Leidse meisjes in de keuken'. Although food and solving crime are not much alike, I hope I can work in both fields when I am older." 🕵🏼♀️ #leidenlaw#leidenlawschool#criminology#criminologystudent#crime#universiteitleiden#university#studentlife#foodblogger#police#leiden
#HumansOfTheKOG "Hi, I’m Niels! A third year Law student who just finished his Bachelor in Criminology. My goal is to do a Master in Criminal Law and maybe followed by a second one in Crisis and Security Management. I’m very interested in crime, and I knew that for me, a career in this field would challenge me. Especially the field of Criminology as it is still developing in the Netherlands. That’s why I’m currently chairman of the in- & external relations committee of CNN (Criminological Network Netherlands). My hope is to contribute to a safer world in the near future. But let’s start in Leiden!" #leidenlaw#leidenlawschool#lawstudent#universitylife#universiteitleiden#leidenuniversity#vanderwerfpark#criminology
#HumansOfTheKOG "My name is Tessa and I'm a third year law student, I came back to the Netherlands to study law after living in Sint Maarten for 7 years. I love my study but with everything that's been going on, it's hard to focus. I think about my parents, I think about my sister's boyfriend. He and his family lost everything. A family company that had been there for over 20 years. It's heartbreaking, I'm torn between my study here and my home there. My sister and I started a campaign (link in bio) to raise money for them because they are the kindest people we know." #leidenlawschool#leidenlaw#law#lawstudent#university#helpthefamilybaroudrebuild#sxmstrong
#HumansOfTheKOG "Hi, I'm Marloes and a second year International Business Law student! But I'm also a very passionate musician! I play the bugle, it's a brass instrument that looks a little bit like a trumpet. I play in the National Youth Fanfare Orchestra, also known as the NJFO. The NJFO is made up of conservatory students aged 15 to 27. We give six nationals concerts every year and make an international tour every two years. Music is a great addition to my law studies because it helps with my concentration skills and analytical skills. Studying law and playing music is the best combination I could dream of!" 👩🏻💼🎼 #leidenlaw#leidenlawschool#law#leidenuniversity#universiteitleiden#universitylife#music
