This post from my friend @emsduchess has really moved me! In a world becoming increasingly automated, creativity and imagination have never been more vital (and transferable) life skills to nurture in children 🙌🏻💛

About a year ago my daughter’s teacher suggested I ask her how her storybook characters were feeling in in order to help her develop her social skills.
No disrespect to the teacher, but Isla’s always been pretty good at emotional intelligence and I was struck by a good friend’s two boys happily constructing giant cranes and bridges.
The way the world of work is going, her emotional intelligence will be jolly useful when the AI robots take over, but I was struck by the lack of focus on practical skills - particularly in girls.
In a fit of feminist fury I bought a load of Lego. Isla and I now spend hours playing happily, creating, building and inventing new worlds. EI will always be important and should be better valued, but at least she now also knows how to build a bridge.
