Sometimes I want chocolate. Sometimes I need wine. And sometimes I just crave some pretty flowers, and that will do just fine. • Spring Tulip is back in the shop, this time with speckles. I truly hope your day/eve is filled with something bright and pretty. (The link to the shop is in my profile or just Google Tributary Yarns.)
My photography skills are atrocious, but the Bramby shawl for my grandma is done! I missed my deadline by two days. Her 97th birthday was yesterday and this is for her. I went to a knitting retreat on Saturday hoping to finish this, but I came up a little short. Then, I ended up not going to PA on Sunday anyways just because my car might not make it (we were all in an accident last weekend). It’s been a rough week. It makes me happy to get this finished. I can’t wait to give it to her this Sunday coming up!
I have to admit at first, I wasn’t too keen on this combination of colorways, but it has really grown on me as the shawl progressed. Now I just need to weave in the ends and block it. Hope she likes it! Lol #bramby#collierandblack#castonyarnstudio#hiyahiya#februarycaston#monthlycaston#knitstagram#knittersofinstagram#knittersoftheworld#ohioknitter
✨What do you see in these (absolutely gorgeous) hanks of yarn? A shawl? A hat? A top? The possibilities for transformation are endless even in just one ball of yarn. That's what I love about being a knitwear designer, the unlimited creativity!
✨Have you signed up for the Initiate Knit Design Challenge yet? This free 10 day challenge leads you through my design process that I've developed over the years that I've been creating knitwear patterns, starting from the spark of the idea, to applying our new knowledge into writing up a pattern. So that when you see a yarn that calls to be transformed... you know what to do.

Jen @theperfectstitchfibreco asked me what I was knitting now... it’s been a relaxing evening of working on my #promiseofspringshawl by @handknitbykam I love seeing the stripes from my second yarn take shape. Clearly I am in a #handknitbykamdesigns mood today because I am wearing her Nido Shawl too! Want to tell me what you are knitting tonight @costumesandy y and @mcmullinfiberco •
📸 photo credit goes to my Four year old. I think he captured me knitting beautifully lol. I’m biased I know.
When I’m not spinning I love doing other creative things, as you may have seen in my stories, I’m working on picking up watercolor to incorporate into my drawing. Aside from art I love anything crafty i.e knitting, doing Aerial Silks for fitness, and playing the ukulele! Lately I’ve been looking at things that bring me joy and these “hobbies” of mine are what make up most of the list. Something else I realized is I LOVE flowers and in the process of thinking about this, I realized I am always waiting around for my husband to bring them to me. Which he does occasionally, but why not get them for myself whenever possible?? So a new thing I’m incorporating in my life is flowers in my home as often as possible!! Buy the flowers for yourselves ladies, because you can and if they bring you joy you should welcome them in as often as possible. 🌻
P.S. I know you are wondering and YES that is a banjolele (ukulele-banjo) and it’s the best instrument ever! ❤️🌿
Remember I said I finished a few things before the knitting mojo got swapped for sewing mojo?
Well here is a glorious one. A big squishy square one.
On the needles since KnitCity 2016, part of the famous #knitoff with @emgemknits (aka #almosttheyarnharlot 🤣), I finally finished this a few weeks ago with the help of long hours on a plane and some poolside knitting. Not gonna lie, I'm not happy about how the edges blocked, but that's my own lazy fault. And I'm too scared to try steam blocking for the first time.
Pattern: A Joyful Thread, by @softsweater
Yarn: @sweetfiber Sweet Merino Lite, Luna colourway (ps 2 skiens did not make it through the entire pattern repeats)
Guys, I made an impulse buy and decided I needed to try out @weareknitters new "The Wave Wool"! But now that I have it I'm not completely sure what to make with it 🙈. Maybe I'll just put it on my shelf and stare at it for months 😂🙊. Or if y'all have any thoughts on what I could make with it!?
P.s Sorry for all the We Are Knitters yarn spam lately! I promise I'm not getting paid to promote them 🙈 (although that would be way cool!), just a little obsessed with their yarn 🤤😍.
