Had a successful NCK event debut, finishing with P1 in my class and P2 overall. Thank you, Aluminos for the awesome support, and SSi Racing School for the sim prep leading up to the race! 😎👊

Next week is panning out to be my first test in a Formula 4 car. To race open wheel has always been a dream for me and I still can’t believe it is almost becoming a reality. I have a book from my kindergarten class (when I was 5 years old) and inside of it, all the students had to illustrate what they wanted to be when they grew up. Though it was no piece of art, you can definitely make out that I drew Niki Lauda’s Ferrari 312t. I wrote underneath that I would someday drive in Formula One.
I am just as motivated today as I was at 5 to achieve this, and a test in a Formula 4 car is a huge leap forward. I started racing only a few years ago, but made the American national team in just my second full season of racing.
I was invited by Sodi Kart France and Dallas Kart Complex to race their all-new chassis at the American Grand Nationals with Jay Howard (Indy 500 driver) as my coach/mentor. I jumped on the next plane ride to North Carolina (which happened to be a red-eye) and was driving on track less than 12 hours later. With several days less experience on the circuit than my competitors, I drove my hardest and wound up finishing in 5th, also setting one of the fastest lap times among the 40 drivers.
Along with this result (and a charge to the front at the World Championship final from 29th to 7th), my name hit many headlines on the American karting scene. I was crowned National Champion after 8 consecutive race wins against a stacked field in the Redline Oil Series at Sonoma Raceway and other circuits.
I won the first international race of the 2013 season from 17th on the grid, finished on the podium at 5 of the 6 races, and won the final race from 5th on the grid. I ended up losing the championship by 2 points (a race win is worth 50 points) due to a loose jet during the penultimate round.
Salve salve pessoa!
