Alaska in the summertime is attracts the humpback whale for one reason....it’s their feeding grounds. They show up after the 2,500 mile migration from their breeding/calfing grounds in Mexico and Hawaii. Did you know they don’t eat on their migration while they are there OR on the way back!?! Needless to say when they show up in Alaska they’re hungry! Www.alaskaluxurytours.com #migration#alaska#humpbackwhale#feeding#calf#juneau#cruise

At exactly 1 p.m. Thursday, a small group of students at Yaakoosge Daakahidi Alternative High School stepped into the snowy and windy afternoon, knowing that they wouldn’t be let back in for the rest of the day. Led by senior Kiara Christopherson, they walked to a spot near the flagpole in front of the school and stood there for 17 minutes despite a winter storm warning being in effect. Each minute was to honor one of the 17 victims of the Feb. 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. It’s YDHS school policy that if students leave the building during the school day, YDHS Principal Kristin Garot explained, they are not allowed back in class until the end of the session, either the morning or the afternoon session. Leaving in the middle of their third-period class at 1 p.m. Thursday, Christopherson and her classmates weren’t going to be allowed back in until school ended at 3 p.m. “We still need to voice our opinions or nothing is going to be done about it,” Christopherson said. “… One small statement could change someone’s life. It could save someone.”

The #ice may not be as safe as it looks. Almost daily there are reports of people stepping or falling into the water, according to officials at the #Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center, especially near the face of the #glacier .

Hi guys figured it was time to introduce myself for all my new followers.
My name is Michelle. I live in Southeast Alaska with my husband and sweet little puppy Henry. We get lots and lots of rain living in a temperate rainforest but the lush green landscape on a sunny day is worth all the rain!
Puddle Hopper started with wanting something to stay busy after quitting my 9-5 and one little craft fair where I ran out of stuff. Now PH keeps me extra busy. I love making products that make people smile and believe that practical everyday items don't have to be boring. #puddlehopperlove
