So for lent I’m trying to take up 20-30 minutes of exercise a day- What started off as 5 laps of Merrion park... reduced to 4.. and then reduced to 3 😅🙈
I’ve been keeping fit with 2 lunchtime HIIT classes a week and a Saturday hour long Pilates session so I thought I’d be able to handle a lunchtime 5k... I was wrong 😂
Not a bad start though, and I’d say my weekend pizza and boojum did not help #zeroregrets#everylittlehelps#goodforthemind
Lemon or lime juice and salt combined with water is a common practice for the #fitfam among us
But is there any sense to why it should be done?
3 things tend to crop up when talking to people about it or hearing from people who ’say it works’
1. It ‘nourishes the adrenals’. This is untrue. There’s currently no evidence to suggest that your adrenals need ‘nourishing’ in order to function. In fact the idea of ‘adrenal fatigue’ is still view with a massive amount of skepticism
2. It ‘alkalises’ the body. It is commonly promoted that the human body prefers an alkaline environment and that certain foods (and beverages) provide this. Unfortunately, this is also incorrect as the body functions within a very tight pH parameter, outside of which we would most likely die
3. A special type of salt is better for you than table salt. This one is my favourite as some of the details surrounding a certain pink salt from a rather large mountain range is said to ‘harness 100,000 years of stored sunlight’ You don’t need to be a detective to figure this one out. —
There you have it. A few reasons as to why lemon juice or lime juice in the morning with salt isn’t the magic fix that’s missing in your life. It won’t promote the optimal internal environment OR increase fat loss.
However, if you ENJOY it and don’t expect to become a metahuman after drinking it, then have at it

My group have to teach a grounding Vata dosha sequence for an hour 😬
Then this afternoon I have an exciting appointment about a 6 week series I am doing 💆🏼. I think you will enjoy the information that will come from this so keep your eyes peeled on Monday/Tuesday 👀 Then yoga college tonight for a restorative practice. Super excited 😍Happy FriYay 🌟
Ps: no tan on (haven’t worn that shiz in months), just a different lighting because of the dark mornings 🎃#TIUteam#TIUTransformation#IrishFitFam#Nutrition#BackGains#TIU21
Muscle Protein Synthesis💪🏼 (MPS) & Muscle Protein Breakdown 😵(MPB): Why you should care and What you can do about it (Skip to the end if you're not arsed with why 🤙🏼) MPS-MPB = Net muscle protein balance. If MPB exceeds MPS = Negative protein
balance (Protein loss). If MPS exceeds MPB = Positive protein balance (Protein gain). Loss of myofibrillar proteins (Actin, myosin) = decreased muscle mass and strength.
MPS decreases in an energy deficit (dieting) which can lead to negative net protein balance and muscle loss. So you're probably wondering
WHAT THE FUCK DOES THIS MEAN FOR ME??🤷♂️
Keep your protein intake high when trying to lose weight around 2g/kg. If you are 100kg aim to eat 200g protein etc. Unless you have an interest in nutrition you don't have to worry about things like this as I will take care of it for you and give you a plan that's easy to understand and stick to 🙂#muscleprotein#muscleproteinsynthesis#muscleproteinbreakdown#musclegain#fatloss#dietplan#nutritionist#performance#supplements#protein#proteinshake#gymtips#sportsnutrition#takingtheconfusionfromnutrition#irishnutrition
An article about Jamie Vardy's Outlandish Pre Game nutrition has popped up again. The article is from 2016 but seems to have resurfaced (I don't know how true this is but let's take it as true for now). It's definitely not a typical routine for a professional sports person but is there method to his madness?! Let's take a look.
Pre Game: 3 Cans Of Redbull and A Double Espresso. What's the common theme here? CAFFEINE! Caffeine has been proven for more than 50 years as a supplement for improving performance. Caffeine is a stimulatory compound and has been proven countless times to improve performance in both endurance and strength based activity. 3mg/kg appears to be the optimal dose however studies have proven its worth for 2-9mg/kg.
Redbull = 75mg Caffeine
Espresso = 77mg Caffeine
3 Redbull & A double espresso = 379mg Caffeine.
Vardy Weighs Approximately 76Kg. His Caffeinated pre Game ritual leaves him at 5mg/Kg which has been proven to be an acceptable(upper limit) rage for improving performance.
Why he chooses this approach over a caffeine Pill or one drink with a 379mg dose of caffeine is strange but may be down to preference or superstition.
In relation to the alcohol the night before the game, I definitely wouldn't recommend it! Alcohol can interfere with a restful nights sleep, reduce Muscle protein Synthesis and increase injury Risk 🤕
