😴😴😴Who finds it freaking hard to fall asleep? Who finds it hard to STAY asleep? Who has the best sleep ever but wakes up feeling exhausted? Who wakes up a million times a night? 🙋🏼I have to say I've always been an amazing sleeper up until about 5 months ago... I'm not gonna lie a few weeks ago especially I went back down to having some nights a week where I literally did not sleep... I was crying in bed praying to sleep but sleep wouldn't come. until 3am when I'd finally fall asleep only to have to wake up 3/4 hours later. 😫My skin got worse than it usually is, my mood was all over the place and I had no motivation. I practice and preach health but I too fall down, I too am human and have times where I just crave an ice cream or a donut, where I forget to turn the tv off and binge watch a show instead of going to a pilates class, but if you want to know how I've created better sleep habits and how I've started to feel less exhausted, join in my intro to essential oils workshop starting next Monday and Tuesday. Fresh Thyme Tea in the early morning sunshine.
This is my favourite spot to catch a few rays of promise in our garden.
When the shadow of winter still clutches onto spring's veil of yellow and gold, the colour of the moss on this wall always stirs such joy and contentment deep within.
All year around the colour changes from dusty burnt orange to dark tones of green and yellow. I am forever grateful for such beauty, and as the birds echo patience in an amphitheatre of acceptance, I sit and wait for life to return.
As spring awaits summers invitation, it seems fitting to enjoy one of the few plants still flourishing in my herb garden.
Full of vitamin A and C, thyme has been favoured by herbalists for thousands of years. With such earthy flavours and aromatic scent, I often pair it with mint, but I'm still waiting for early shoots to piece through the dormant ground. Maybe it will show it's head soon.
As I look up, I see in the distance a wee wood anemone peeping through the beech leaf mould. Heaven!

More and more eateries are catering to vegetarian and veganism, making the #meatfree life easier and tastier. If you’re not at a dedicated vegetarian restaurant, you can just ask for alternatives to meat (mushrooms, egg, haloumi, etc.) or bulk up a vegetable dish with sides. 🥑 .
This morning, while famished after hot yoga 🧘♀️💦(and hangry after a few Saturday night drinks), a potato hash, poached egg, pulled pork, haloumi, and greens dish was calling my name. After briefly considering a deviation from #meatfree life, I asked the waitress for an alternative to the pork, to which she suggested mushrooms. 🍖 .
Eating out can offer temptation to stray from #vegetarianism but just know meat is not your only option at a restaurant. What meat alternatives do you like to order? 🥟🥗

As a continuation from my last post- feeding young kids is bloody hard. What’s even harder (at least in this house) is trying to feed them a WIDE VARIETY of veggies regularly. You know- the ones past carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, peas, potatoes and broccoli.
Now I know we all sneak veggies into foods when we can such as blending spinach into smoothies, grating zucchini into muffins or mashing cauliflower with mashed potatoes but my favourite and easiest way to sneak a whole lot of hidden veggies into Henry-happy meals is via pastaaaa. All kids just LOVE pasta don’t they?! Henry pretty much asks for it nightly. He loves a cream sauce so basically I play around with a cashew base and throw in as many secret veggies as possible- tonight was sautéed onions and mushrooms (how many mamas can get their 3 year olds eat mushrooms OR onions?- I didn’t even eat mushrooms until my twenties) along with heaping handfuls of spinach, fresh parsley and basil (again- three year olds and herbs? Forget about it...🤭). Combine that with some olive oil, nutritional yeast, fresh lemon juice, sea salt and choice of nut milk (hemp is a great option) and holy moly that’s a lot of nutrients without the fight🤬 I usually serve Henry’s over a lentil penne pasta (GF, Organic, Non-GMO) and top it with some vegan Parmesan cheese.
Other pasta sauce variety’s include a pumpkin and sage option or a roasted capsicum and sundried tomato option (both cashew based). Every little one has their own set of taste buds and personal likes/dislikes so work with your bub and customise it accordingly. If you can’t from time to time enjoy a burger, piece of cake, meal out, dessert, beverage, pizza, (insert fav ‘sometimes’ food here) ... without feeling guilty, down on yourself, negative about your body or without following this food choice with an intense hate filled work out ... I do not consider you to be practicing ‘healthy eating’! I hope I haven’t lost you...
Now, let’s not mistake “healthy eating”, for “perfect eating”- healthy eating and perfect eating are not the same thing. ‘Perfect eating’ is stringent; it is fear driven, measured, never deviates, always says no to the office cake, ice cream with a loved one, or square of chocolate with a cup of tea. Perfect eating remains just that: perfect; always green, always minimal portions, always fresh, primarily organic, often not driven by lust or desire.
When a “perfect” eater emerges, I like to ask how they may feel if placed in a situation where they were presented with a not so perfect food item and were expected to eat it- dinner at someone else’s place, a social event, a birthday celebration, a side of fries. Often the “perfect” eater will express that this situation would cause them to feel uncomfortable, anxious and the most popular response- guilty.
We eat for a number of reasons - for nourishment, for fuel, socially, in isolation, driven by emotions, for pleasure and out of lust or desire. The list could go on... whilst I place nourishment at the top of mine; pleasure and desire don’t follow too far behind. Food is an experience, it is to be shared, savoured and salivated over. These aspects are as beneficial to our health as the nutrients within our food- it is designed to nourish us as a whole being.
“Perfect eating” doesn’t allow for this. It doesn’t take into consideration our need to share an ice cream with someone special, it doesn’t think of that big family celebration at nans place where everything is cooked in butter and love, it doesn’t allow for us to ever over indulge - order dessert, share a pizza with friends, eat the burger and fries.
I never want or encourage clients to aim for perfect; perfect isn’t where we want to be. Let’s aim for healthy, well, vibrant 🌸🌸

So where should you start?
