I inherited the Erickson family shotgun. It was made by my great great great grandfather circa 1840. It will be a talisman of craftsmanship and protection for my home. And some day I pass it down to the next generation. #percussionshotgun#heirloom
Misahara's designer, @LepaGaleb, says from an interview with @TownandCountrymag, "Inherited jewelry is so meaningful, but often, because the designs or settings are no longer contemporary or useful, these pieces don't get integrated into your wardrobe." Town and Country writes, "Re-imagining existing family jewelry is the opposite of disrespectful: It’s caring to contribute to history’s evolution.” #heirloom#wedding#ring#jewelry#soTandC#jewelrydesigner
This past weekend we had THE PLEASURE of attending this year’s @makersco_ !! If you are a maker, artists or entrepreneur I HIGHLY recommend attending this summit! It’s 2 days packed full of inspirational speakers, educational workshops and a lot of elbow rubbing with other business owners who you can learn from and connect with! Big thanks to @makersco_ @jengotch @jenibrittonbauer @dapperink @citizen.supply and @frenchbroadchocolates for all the experience sharing! My pot is definitely full and I can’t wait to get back to work and utilize what I’ve taken away from your experiences! xo, @illenesofranko
@thomas.mcquillan sneakily took this photo of me and our youngest bubba sleeping this morning. He’s slept with us ever since he was born in our bedroom in New Zealand. He goes to bed in his own room and then most nights ends up with us eventually. I love it, he’s an easy sleeper, doesn’t wriggle too much, doesn’t snore, so it’s easy. Lately he will stay in his own room all night and be proud of himself, it makes me happy and sad because it means he’s growing up. The teddy bear I’ve had since my parents gave him to me when I was about 7, and he came all the way to sweden with us too, been repaired many times. Technically he’s Magnus’ bear, but...
A family heirloom 💍 Princess Diana's sapphire jewellery set is now worn by Kate Middleton.
The right investment piece of jewellery can stay in a family for generations to come. Heirloom jewellery traditions are almost invariably created on special occasions. Therefore, when you receive a memorable gift from a loved one you tend to value that object highly. This is because of the deep emotions attached to it.
We hope that the future generations will cherish these symbolic possessions as much as we do.
In this way, heirloom jewellery creates a direct connection to our family history.
Ladies, I’m kind of dying of excitement over here 😍. This weekend’s finds are sooo good. Rare pieces in excellent condition from the 1890s (maybe early 1900s), 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. Also some really cute gems from the 30s/50s/60s/80s. Check out my stories for more previews!!
Curious about our 6th #featurefilm ? Then read on! Follow us to keep up to date on the excitement and learn more about the #project ! "The Lambert family purchased a new telephone in 1909. Eighty years later & after the recent passing of Tim Lambert's father, his mother moves in with him along with some special family heirlooms. One in particular, is the obsolete telephone which still seems capable of doing one thing-- receiving long distance calls. Hello, are you there? The past has dialed Tim for information... or is it help?” #20thcentury#periodfilm#fantasydrama#telephone#vintage#heirloom#HelloAreYouThereMovie#1900s
Today is a day of reflection for me and I want to share a little story. .
Five years ago today we lost my beautiful Grandma. She was the heart and soul of our family. She taught us to be true to ourselves, to be honest and kind. She taught us that strength comes from within and kindness is is one of the most beautiful gifts you can give. I miss her desperately and at the same time know that she is still very much around and deeply a part of my life, and my family’s. .
This is a stunning photo of her taken in 1939, it is printed in sepia and hand coloured. My grandfather packed it and took it with him when he went to war. Only newly engaged before he left, they did not see each other for about 4 years. .
I found it recently when sorting through photos and it blew my mind to think that here is this beautiful memory, perfectly preserved and not only can I treasure it, but I have it to share with my boys; her great-grandchildren, who will be able to share it along the family line as time passes. It will last long after I and many others in our family have left this world. .
No digital file on a usb or hard drive will stand that test of time so this is a classic and perfect example of a reason to print your photos! You don’t need to print hundreds, just a few. They will outlast a lifetime if looked after and your family will treasure them always. .
This is a re-post from @sarahj_reaney my talented daughter-in-law. I just wanted to share this photo of the beautiful and very original bouquet Sarah created for her wedding last summer. It is made from recycled fabric, beads, butterflies, moss and all manner of lovely things. It is now on display as a reminder of a very special day and sure is destined to become a treasured family heirloom. #heirloom#familyheirloom#weddingbouquet#bouquet#recycled#recycledfabric #@sarahj_reaney #sarahj_reaney
When I finally got my hands on my grandfather's old Argus C3 camera, it still had a roll of film inside. A roll of film that had been in the camera for more than 20 years. This poor, deteriorated shot was just a throw away test shot out the back window of my grandparents house to burn the first frame on the roll. It was also the last photo my grandfather ever took. that makes it special. #film#antique#oldphoto#heirloom#grandfather#old#memory#final
