I know this is juuuust a little bit lame 😝 but I calculated the percent of days I worked out since making my New Years resolution of getting more exercise! I am slightly disappointed that my numbers have gone down, but as the semester gets tougher, I get busier. However, by the end of April I hope to be back up to my January numbers (or even higher)! In the beginning I started this resolution because I wanted to lose weight and look better and I still think those are great reasons! But lately I’ve been more in the mindset of “I want to do this so that my body is in better shape, so that I can live longer, and so that I have a better chance of preventing the diseases that run in my family such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity” and honestly this is more motivating to me than just wanting to lose weight so I look better. I’m doing this for me, my body, and my future! #motivation#fit#exercise#hearthealth#workoutmotivation#collegelife#healthymindandbody#prevention#staypositive
My son was diagnosed with adhd, odd, anxiety and depression. It's a disgusting combination. We were told medication was the answer. After witnessing first hand what that looked like, I decided that was the absolute last thing I would do. We researched all natural ways and went Gluten free, no red dyes, low sugar/carbs. It didn't help. We had researched cbd oil but didn't know the lagalities. We live in Indiana, which up until last week still didn't sell Sunday alcohol. After a suicide attempt by him at 9 years old, I was ready to try it. Hell, I was ready to move to Colorado or Washington if need be. We ordered our first of many bottles that night. I just received his newest report card and he's maintaining his B average. I am no longer getting calls from school. Even his great grandma has noticed. He's able to focus on the coping skills giving to him in therapy and actually use them, instead of just breaking down. CBD has literally changed my son's life.

What I know for sure is that LIFE IS UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME! What I also know for sure is that sometimes it can suck! These past 3 months have been a challenge and a fight...BUT...I’m fighter by nature and an overcomer by choice!!! My mother passed away, the doctors drained over a liter of fluid from around my heart, and I had my first ever car accident (guy ran a red light)! AND I STAND HERE READY TO LIVE GREATLY!! It’s been a lot, but nothing has happened to me that is not normal life, but it sucks, stuff! So, I stand in a place where I choose to move forward! I choose to progress! I choose to look at it all and grow! I hope when adversity and sucky life things come your way, you CHOOSE to “mount up on wings like eagles” and fly! There is still so much I have to do, and that “DOING” starts today!! My heart is full and I’m ready to change the world! LOVE!!! #love#mamasboy#singer#writer#speaker#performer
Fish Oil. What is the story and does it provide cardiovascular benefit? We all know about fish oil and that it contains healthy omega-3 fatty acids - EPA and DHA. Fish oil supplements are sold in many varietals with these two omega-3’s and is often marketed as being beneficial to patients. .
Biological mechanisms of omega-3 fatty acid may include blood vessel relaxation, blood thinning effect, anti inflammatory and potentially an anti-arrhythmic effect - which all sound favorable in heart disease. But who really benefits from fish oil and who should we be treating with it?
The short answer is, it remains unclear. There has been a lot of observational data over the years, but it is conflicting. No benefit has been shown for primary prevention. Only two randomized trials have shown a potential benefit in two groups:
1️⃣Patients who have already suffered a heart attack, and
2️⃣Patients with known congestive heart failure.
Based on this the AHA recently issued a class IIa recommendation stating therapy with fish oil “is reasonable” in these groups to reduce heart attack and death. However some remain skeptical that there truly is clinical benefit.
Finally lets not forget that supplements are not regulated by the FDA, so you may not be getting exactly what you bargain for, and you may be getting contaminates as well.
In my mind the data remains conflicting and more trials are needed. If you are thinking about a fish oil supplement, talk to your doctor. My bottom line: Skip the supplements and eat a healthy diet with a good intake of fish!
What are your thoughts on fish oil supplements??
🏃🏻♀️What Happens With Exercise?
Just as exercise strengthens other muscles in your body, it helps your heart muscle become more efficient and better able to pump blood throughout your body. This means that the heart pushes out more blood with each beat, allowing it to beat slower and keep your blood pressure under control.
When you exercise regularly, your body's tissue (including the heart) does a better job of pulling oxygen from your blood. This allows your heart to work better under stress and keeps you from getting winded during high-intensity activities.
Physical activity also allows better blood flow in the small blood vessels around your heart. Clogs in these arteries can lead to heart attacks. There's also evidence that exercise helps your body make more branches and connections between these blood vessels, so there are other routes for your blood to travel if the usual path is blocked by narrow arteries or fatty deposits.
Exercise also increases your levels of HDL cholesterol, the "good" cholesterol that lowers heart disease risk by flushing the artery-clogging LDL or "bad" cholesterol out of your system.
Along with lowering your risk for heart disease, exercise:
Keeps your weight down.
Improves your mood.
Lowers your risk for some types of cancer.
Improves your balance.
Reduces your risk of osteoporosis by increasing your bone mass.
Gives you more energy.
Helps you sleep better. #healthylifestyle#hearthealth#loveyourself#exercise#workoutmotivation#stayhydrated#yourbestself#hydrationwithapurpose#youcan
Forgot to share this yesterday! 💕
A few of us ladies decided to take advantage our Saturday morning by hopping on our virtual group and working out together!! 🍍💪🏻
I get asked a lot about how we hold each other accountable...Well here is one of MANY ways! We all made the decision to take an hour for ourselves before the start of a crazy day! 🤪
I honestly did not think I was going to get through that workout yesterday. I woke up feeling kind of “blah” about it lol BUT as soon as I hit play with these babes my attitude changed!
These 3 ladies are mamas... they have crazy busy schedules... much crazier than mine, that’s for sure! And to see them all commit whole heartedly, instantly made me want to do better! I love having these ladies to lean on. It’s more than just a little “group”..it’s truly become a sisterhood! 👯♀️
We are starting a new challenge soon! We would love to have you be apart of our “Pineapple Babe” sisterhood! Drop some pineapples if interested 🍍🍍🍍🍍 OR message me! 💌
