The emotional pain I've been through is much more than any pain I've had during a workout --Jazymne Reyes
As I was at the end of this workout, I kept thinking... oh gosh, I'm so out of breath...I need a break.. maybe I can pause for a second.. maybe I can stop here.. but I have yet to miss/pause one workout and we are on day 37.
When I heard Jazymne make the comment about emotional pain, it's 100% true. The pain I feel during my workout is temporary.. it'll go away as soon as I get out of the air from my Mule. But emotional pain? Pain of not feeling comfortable in my body... not feeling like I can get through a workout... wanting to drown my figure in oversized clothes, leggings.. last winter? I wore only leggings.. every outfit. This winter?
I'll rock those high waisted skinny jeans with my top tucked in. My emotional struggle has been real. Once I got out of my own head... that is when my body changed the most.

Barely two days into being on track with my “bulk” and I’m mentally exhausted. My workout tonight suffered because of it.
What is my biggest fear? That I’m eating in a surplus and will not gain the muscle I want so badly. I always doubt myself...Im not doing the exercises correctly, I’m not engaging the right muscles...something just isn’t right.
I have to learn patience. I have to learn trust. I have to learn continued consistency, even with when I’m not seeing the results I want when I want them.
It’s just a hard process. But I’m not giving up!
I know I am meant for more than just an ordinary life.
I don’t need to settle anymore, because this business has shown me I shouldn’t. I don’t need to say “good enough”, because what if I could be BETTER? Be STRONGER? Try HARDER? Live HAPPIER?
We lose so much when we set limits on ourselves. Although this isn't always easy, I keep learning that it is worth the effort to live the life that I want. That’s why I continue to chase the freedom that is this life, because I’ll be damned if I let anyone, ESPECIALLY myself, tell me I’ve come as far as I’m going to go. I will live boldly 🏔🧘🏻♀️🌱
You know that thing you used to do as a kid, that thing that you loved to do and don’t do much anymore?
What is it?
For me, it’s piano and dance. And I miss them both. So I decided to go back to dance class (though not as often as I’d like) and to teach myself piano.
Yes, teach myself. Because I haven’t played regularly since high school. And, um, I’m 50 now. You can do the math... 😬
A couple months ago, I never saw this piece before. I heard it. Knew it was Bach. Knew I’d love to be able to play it one day. So I started.
It took me a couple months. Just a little bit here and there. Not even that consistently. And I made progress.
Yeah, you could say it takes skill. Or discipline. Or even talent.
But all that is required, really, is that you start.
And keep going.
No one asks that you be perfect.
Just focus on making progress.
A little bit here and there to move you forward.

It was a crispy frosty morning today and we @hen9589 got out nice and early to enjoy a long stroll along the river... very lucky to have this right behind our house!! Had a not so productive gym session after this but got there.. halfway through week 8 @ohfitnessfurnace 🙌🏻

Last night I went to a concert here in OKC. And I saw something happen three times that really made me think. I saw droves of conventionally beautiful girls (thin, long hair, perfect makeup) laughing and carrying on, plowing through people without so much as a backward glance, much less an “excuse me”. And no big deal, right? It was super crowded and bumping was bound to happen. But three times I saw women, beautiful women, who happened to have a fuller shape, try to pass through without touching anyone, apologies pouring from their lips. Why? What have we done to these women to make them apologize for their presence? It rubbed me all kinds of wrong. Ladies, (and you too, gentlemen), YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. YOU ARE ALLOWED TO TAKE UP SPACE. YOU ARE A GIFT IN THE UNIVERSE THAT HAS NO DEBT TO APOLOGIES. I’m a big girl y’all. Broad shouldered, squishy tummy, thick legs. But I don’t apologize for the space I consume. I don’t question my beauty in the face of other beautiful women. We can all be beautiful. Flowers and Christmas lights are beautiful and look nothing alike. I don’t have to question myself because I’m different from someone else. And neither do you. Stop apologizing. Stop putting yourself down. Stop comparing. LOVE YOUR DAMN BODY. Don’t waste today.
I hear so many people say “well I’ve already screwed up this week” before they throw in the towel on their fitness goals. “I’ll start Monday” and “well it’s the weekend” typically go hand in hand with those comments. But, it’s so important to count each day as a new one. Each a new chance to start over, to fuel your body properly, and focus on progressing. Try not to let your slip ups rule the rest of the week. It’s much easier to reach your goals with 365 chances rather than 52!
Every day I push a little harder, do a little more!
My journey is certainly not perfect but it is “my journey”! It’s not about creating a perfect body or about being better then anyone else....it’s about be the best possible version of myself I can actually be!! I plan to enter my 50’s fit and strong!
My next group is set to start on Monday....”strong mind, strong body” will focus on personal growth as will as physical transformations!
I’m I firm believer that if you can change your mind, your body will follow!
