Plié, relevé, first and second position... today we start a lesson of Booty Barre. This discipline was born in the United States and has arrived in Italy thanks to Nathalie Ott, a Moulin Rouge dancer and now Pilates instructor. The lesson takes place most time at the barre, the same of the picture. The discipline employs the barre of the classical ballet. 
The lesson is divided into two parts: the former includes a free body warm-up with the employment of the light hand-weights or of a small ball... the latter includes plié, en dehors, relevé and leaps of the legs forward and backward. 
The duration of the lesson is one hour and the final part is dedicated to the abs. 
It is a particularly apt discipline for those who want to tone up their gluteus muscles and legs in a fun and elegant way. Elegance and grace are fundamental elements. The part of the lesson at the barre reflects the typical grace of the classical ballet dancers. •*

5️⃣Breaststroke
Option 1 with Clare: Put a light resistance flex band under your knees. You can either sit on your heels or lift up into a high kneeling position. Hold the ends of the band with your hands. If you are doing this exercise postnatally, make sure your baby is not right next to you on the off chance that the band snaps. Inhale flex your arms in front of you, in line with shoulders. If that feels okay, lift arms overhead. Exhale as you slightly extend your thoracic spine and lower arms wide down to starting position. If the resistance feels too light, change your hand position on the band so you’re holding closer to your knees.
Option 2 with Ale: Hold light hand weights. Bend elbows to bring hands to shoulders.  Extend arms overhead, then slightly extend thoracic spine as you lower arms wide and down to your side.

After much debate, I had my husband reluctantly give in, to taking me with him to the gym today.  I had it all worked out.  After hobbling (on crutches) down the endless hallway to the weight room, I’d restrict myself to a small area for some light upper body work then over to the mat to stretch.  I’m going to my first physical therapy session on Friday after all (in Seattle, still on crutches), so what’s the difference in sneaking a little trip to the gym?!? Alas, my better judgement kicked in and I realized if all did not go well, I’d be putting my recovery in serious jeopardy.  An itchy trigger finger just wasn’t worth it.  So here I am on the living room floor rocking out on my yoga mat with a foam roller, resistance bands and 5 lb. hand weights. 
Oh and Titian is here supporting me.
PS - I can do a plank on one foot for one minute!

The kiddos had the day off of school today thanks to some sleet and freezing rain ☔️ ❄️ , so I stayed home with them. I was able to knock out my workout early this afternoon which was a bonus treat!! Yippee!
I felt like a powerhouse today! 👊 Ketones have the added health benefit of muscle strength, so BAM...I rocked it out like a beast! 
Now a power-packed evening between making dinner and the kids’ Tae Kwon Do class! 🥋 🥋

I was able to knock out my workout early this afternoon which was a bonus treat!! Yippee! I felt like a powerhouse today! 👊 Ketones have the added health benefit of muscle strength, so BAM...I rocked it out like a beast! Anyone in the UK looking for a bargain, Tesco have reduced a lot of health & fitness stuff today. Got these new hand weights for 80p each. They are 1kg each so really made me work harder.
