I've been weaving up some double woven organizers and this is my trial piece. What do you all think? 💁🏻 It's all constructed on the loom, except for the hemmed edges, then hand dyed. It's double woven, so I wove two layers at once and constructed the pockets as I went. I'm considering making more of these and I can see it going in many beautiful directions. I'd love to hear your feedback! 💕
Saturday’s towel. Switched to cottolin for weft, dribs and drabs from other projects. I decided to always weave the purple in the same block and have introduced some colors not in the warp. I know I am not the only weaver who weaves towels as giant samples. Doing this helps me work out designs and see out different yarn colors interact with one another and even the ones I’m not wild about seem to find homes. I already feel like using the purple always in the same block is a bit too stripey for me. #handweaving#handwoventowels#nothingbeatsahandwoventowel#learnbydoing#colorfulweaving
👋 hi guys 👋 just wanted to post an oldie of some goodies and say I’m still here! I’m in the process of moving right now so things are busy but I’m still working on new, exciting designs! Coming soon 🙏 also - both of these babies are listed in my shop! Link in bio.
Second day of weaving and I can throughly recommend it. Clearly as a cloth user for 30 years it was really helpful getting to understanding the structure/process a little better. Hopefully the last image of the Medway from Rochester station will help explain the context of the pallet choice. Many thanks to @margoselbystudio @huguenot_museum for a fantastic well structured introduction to weaving. #weaving#handweaving#doublewarp can’t wait to show the piece it is for.
My original intention behind Inspiration Friday was to have a creative date with myself that had nothing to do with the projects I was working on. Foolishly I thought that meant no fiber projects on Fridays. After 3 weeks spent in front of my computer working on a writing project and lots of essential oil research, weaving was Friday’s creative date with myself. And it came at such a good time. Weaving is very methodical and meditative and grounding for me, especially when processing difficult news. So this project is a long overdue gift to a friend, but it’s turning into a wonderful gift to myself. .
