This mornings work in progress. Today I've been embroidering tree trunks, cottage doors, grass and sheep heads onto these little landscape ornaments. They'll be ready for stitching and stuffing once I've added some suns and moons ☀️🌛☀️#swinkydoo#irishlandscape#embroiderystitches
In the car on our way to school this morning, Calvin informed me he had a hole in his pants. I told him I could fix it, and he could choose a thread color when I got home from work. The first thing he asked about when I came through the door was the box of Perle cotton. He chose orange and yellow, and asked if I could make it look like the sun. Hopefully this passes
I feel so lucky to have a local quilt store. I needed embroidery needles and good quality silver embroidery thread and they had everything I needed. I tried to keep my eyes averted from the gorgeous quilt samples on the walls because you all know I have no self control in a quilt store.😀#embrodery#needles#felt#crafts#handstitching#bearpatchquilting

What: " Weeds”
Why: I wanted to use a scrap of ecodyed silk fabric that I did at a workshop with Kirsten Ingemar. It has the imprint of leaves beautifully shown on it. I find weeds fascinating as they are great survivors and often beautiful, so are often valued in some gardens and seen as pests in others. When I thought of LFYoung’s quote: “When life is not coming up roses
look to the weeds
and find beauty hidden within them”,
It all came together.
hand embroidery using ecodyed cotton yarn, linen yarn and commercial yarns on ecodyed silk, and backed with linen dyed with watered down Inktense pencils. The work is stretched and backed on stretched canvas.

@willowandtroutmakerie have this fantastic new thread conditioner and I'll be testing it out over the next few months. I have to say it's ticked a few boxes already. It's made from 100% Australian bees wax, so it smells soooo yummy, it's a natural product and it's Aussie. Follow the links over at @willowandtroutmakerie to grab yourself some.
Students’ embroidery, done at our workshop last Sunday by Jane See🌸👌 This Art requires quite a lot of patience and time. So better to pick it up in a proper environment surrounded by other enthusiasts🤓 Next session with @jodiemrhodes will be on April 22nd📌
I finished stitching my new phone case and it was quite fun! I found some leather that I bought ages thinking it could come in useful and it did. It was my first time stitching leather and it was an interesting learning experience. You have to think quite differently.
I wanted to take in progress shots, but I had way too much fun stitching to put it down even for a photo. ;)
