This #caprese#salad has been the main motivation for growing my own #tomatoes and #basil . To me, nothing captures the essence of #garden#fresh quite like this simple yet #delicious combination of #flavors and textures. Black cherry tomatoes are particularly good for Caprese salads because of its complex flavor profile. They are sweet but have a deep, almost smoky flavor with a nice balance of acid and sweetness. Not to mention their dramatic dark red color - they are beautiful when cut. I prefer eating these with the classic #Genovese#basil in honor of its origins. Here we go again, more snow! However all the plants in the greenhouse are snug and warm thanks to my thermostatic Hotbox heater. It’s amazingly energy efficient and is only using about £2 of power in 24 hours on the coldest of these cold days and nights. Currently maintaining about 8C which is a bit cool for my tomatoes but they will be just fine - it’ll just slow them down a bit.
I've just used these small peat pots for sowing the first salad of the year ;) honestly...I really don't like those peat products for seed starting..1. for environmental reasons and 2. 'cause they become moldy so easily and at the same time dry out very quickly 🙄 basically I am getting annoyed every time I use them...🤦 What's your opinion about peat products?

Post run brunch! So we're trying to get to a point where we are not sourcing any of our fresh produce from Woolies or PnP etc. So far we're doing really well.
