Adenosine (a neurotransmitter that produces ATP, the energy-storage molecule that powers most of the biochemical reactions inside cells) is used as a signal to tell the brain that it needs to rest. It is seen that levels of adenosine decrease during sleep. The lack or blockage of adenosine has shown to increase alertness which also goes to suggest that the brain is actually being recharged during sleep. A recharged brain is a better way to operate the next day than going with a tired brain ad operating sub-optimally.
So next time someone suggests a good quote about putting in extra hours of work, make sure you share this with them and let them know how to ensure you operate more efficiently.
If you’re looking to increase strength🏋️♂️ muscle 💪🏻 and hormone optimization (like having healthy testosterone and growth hormone levels. Especially for those over 30 years old.) Train like this
Step 1: Pick a Compound Movement and move some heavy weight, safely, for low reps (3-5 reps) over 4-6 sets. 2-3 minute rest periods. Like a powerlifter would. Heavy, low rep training has been shown to elicit increases in acute testosterone levels. ⬇️
Step 2: Pick 2-3 Accessory Movements and train them like a bodybuilder would. 3-4 sets of 6-12 reps. Keep rest periods between 60 and 90 seconds. Shorter Rest periods and high levels of blood lactate (Getting that pump or burn) have been shown to increase acute GH levels. ⬇️
Step 3: If fat loss and body recomp is your goal, add some form of conditioning. HIIT or Low Intensity Cardio both work here.
Step 4: Recover like a Tri-Athlete. Meaning act like you are trying get ready for an Ironman the next day. Take the time at the end of your workout to do some deep breathing while on your back, preferably with your legs elevated. Doing this for even 2 minutes can have a dramatic effect on your recovery speed and stress levels. Also, if you’re sleeping patterns resemble that of a college student on Spring Break in Cancun, you might want to find ways to improve upon that and work to getting a quality 6-8 hours of sleep a night.

Intermittent fasting - IF is a term for an eating pattern that cycles between periods of fasting and eating. it does not say anything about which foods you should eat, but rather when you should eat them. In this respect, it is not a diet in the conventional sense. It is more accurately described as an eating pattern.
How to do IF - there are several different methods to IF, All of them involve splitting the day or week into eating periods and fasting periods.
Most popular methods are:.
- The 16:8 Method: Also called the Leangains protocol, it involves skipping breakfast and restricting your daily eating period to 8 hours, for example from 1 pm to 9 pm. Then you fast for 16 hours in between.
- Eat-Stop-Eat Method: This involves fasting for 24 hours, once or twice a week, for example by not eating from dinner one day until dinner the next day.
- The 5:2 Diet Method: On two non-consecutive days of the week, only eat 500-600 calories. Eat normally the other 5 days.
