Design 7 for the #30quiltdesignschallenge2018 ... I don't really have a name for this one yet but this came to me in the middle of the night. At the end of the year I'm going to have 52 hexie flowers from the #fussycuttingsewalong and I've always planned to frame each flower in white and make a quilt to remember the awesome community that has developed under Naomi's @naomialicec careful watch! Along with this I'm also building a 1/2" hexie ispy quilt for my kids to play with. I'm a big believer in only making and doing things of use and although I find Quilts absolutely beautiful I don't really want to keep making quilt after quilt. With this all in mind I came up with a solution. Combine the two!! They're both using 1/2" hexies and will both be vast and varied in colour and design. I think they will be a perfect match!
Does this design confuse you? Yup. All the outside circles are my 52 hexie flowers all the diamonds are going to be my ispy hexies all framed in white! The inner hexie flowers are open to offers, I've not decided what or where these will come from I just like the two frames. 😍
The best thing is now I have an idea I can start building it and hope it works!! An awesome epp project!! What do you think?
Happy V-day everyone! Sorry things have been quiet here for a while! I promise they’ll pick up again after @theknittingandstitchingshows in 2 weeks! For £2 off your ticket use code EX18 and come@and see me at stand H63!! 💛
Here is design 4 for the #30quiltdesignschallenge2018 In line with design 3 I have called this one "ode to England." It's not really the English flag but mimics the colours sort of and has a cross... again I've enjoyed the process and the colouring!
This is my 3rd design for the #30quiltdesignschallenge2018 named "ode to Ireland" 🇮🇪
I started with the flag of blocks at the top but couldn't help myself by playing with the orientation of the original block and creating something very different... hence the 3.1 & 3.2 designs... do they count as designs 3 & 4?! Thanks @mmmquilts for this challenge, I'm enjoying myself! #twotinymakesquiltsesigns
Feeling really inspired by the #30quiltdesignschallenge2018 that I thought I would have a stab at design no.2 I've named this "Easter Bows".
Trying to get over my triangle fear straight away I figured it was time to incorporate them into a design. I picked 2 random colours out the pen pot and I thought they looked quite spring like. The green triangles remind me of bows, hence my block name. I quite like the alternating effect they make.
There is still time to join in the challenge yourself check out @mmmquilts for the details!
I spent all weekend quilting and although there is a long way still to go, I’m kind of hooked and don’t want to stop until it’s done. There is a fair bit that I now know I want to unpick, but I love how the ‘nearly’ matchstick quilting on this block makes the colours pop. Who made this one for me? Own up! I love it!!
Adding my own spin to the #greatbritishquilter#monthlymakes for January with @sarahashfordstudio and @sydneyrosedesigns. Sadly I didn’t manage any sewing, BUT I did manage quite a bit of fabric shopping! 👍🏻😁 These striped choices were inspired by the #epp challenge and some of them will find their way in to my #lapassacaglia quilt. The others were bought just because I like them!
Here’s to a more productive February:) #fabricstash#ilovefabric
All my purple hexie flowers together!
I am entering the #fussycuttingsewalong purple giveaway hosted by @naomialicec and @karenlewistextiles
This is also my #monthlymakes post for January for the #greatbritishquilter hosted by @sarahashfordstudio and @sydneyrosedesigns. No finishes for January, I have given myself permission to sew whatever I like without imposing arbitrary rules or deadlines on my WIPs and I am much happier as a result.
#greatbritishquilter with @sarahashfordstudio and @sydneyrosedesigns , my January finishes. There are a couple more, but they are presents so can't show them yet. February will be longarm quilting again, as well as trying to get some more of my things done.
January Makes! Lots of little projects this month, one gifted baby quilt and the layout of my 'Dollhouse' quilt top that is ready to be 'sandwiched' tomorrow! Start of a new month - will have to start planning! #monthlymakes#greatbritishquilter @sarahashfordstudio @sydneyrosedesigns
Sharing my monthly makes for #greatbritishquilter . I made more than I thought given I had flu most the month and no energy for sewing.
Didn't finish the Dragon quilt in time for my son's birthday though. It'll be a few weeks late.
A slowish start to the year. Two new pouches, some slow #sashiko stitching and finally put the binding and gifted this baby quilt to the latest addition to the family all the way to 🇫🇷 😍#greatbritishquilter with @sarahashfordstudio and @sydneyrosedesigns #January#madebyme
I was so busy asking you all for your monthly makes, I forgot to post mine! The end of another month!! Not a huge amount of quilting done in January! Some epp for our #greatbritishquilter epp challenge, a cushion with my @stitchsperation ampersand, a @cottonclara hello banner and some more cross stitch for @theknittingandstitchingshows next month! I’ve loved seeing how busy you’ve all been ✨💛✨ I fear next month will have even less quilting to show but I hope to come back with a vengeance in March!! 🙌🏻
Well this is a bit frustrating, I finished loads of things in January, but as most of it was secret sewing, I can't show a lot! But it was a very productive month! #januarymakes#greatbritishquilter @sarahashfordstudio @sydneyrosedesigns
#monthlymakes for #greatbritishquilter with @sarahashfordstudio @sydneyrosedesigns this month was all about the big cats 🐯 🦁practically made most of the paper pieced lion in 3 weeks, quilted and bound it.
Met @tulapink and started my #tulanovaquilt with the tiger center, its strangely addictive. Made a messenger bag to lug my stuff to Tula and it's got the super cute Moda man fabric 😘
Here are my January makes, thanks mostly to @tuppencehapennyquilts and her #stitchedsewingorganizerssal it's not looking too shabby at six finishes. I don't think I can keep up that pace for the rest of the year unless I start including my monthly mandolin blocks. 😞

Can't believe I've done so much!
Mugrug and mini quilt for my sister, Starbucks swap made and has arrived in the US, 500 followers giveaway and payitforward gifts, more fancy foxes, thistles, hexies flowers and fussy cutting. #januaryfinishes
Now what is planned for February... lots more hexie sewing and those pesky bunnies for #fancyforestqal18 Took me ages just to cut out two. Haven't had the courage to start them.

Monthly marker - my January makes - actually only one finish but that’s fine - as it’s the only one needed in January! Started the yearlong fussycutting sewalong and icecream soda and lots of new things on the near horizon! #monthlymarker#greatbritishquilter @sarahashfordstudio @sydneyrosedesigns #makemodern#monthlymakes
With lots of WIP's left from last year I wanted to be sure this year to finish more than I start.
As I can't be trusted to do this alone I have decided to post a monthly round up so you guys can keep an eye on me!
I have had just one finish in January and one new start! My #fussycuttingsewalong and I've added two more blocks to my A Countryside Winter quilt.
Its not a very strong start, maybe I'll do better in February 💋

Slow stitching this mid morning, and someone climbed up and cuddled under it. She's great at picking out the papers, and already loves talking about all the images on the front. This makes my heart so happy. ☺️ Still have loads to make on it, but I can't wait to finish it. #GreatBritishQuilter
I hung this beauty last night just to get it up out of the way, walked in this morning to the sun shining perfectly through it. 😍 I may even take a more classy photo of it in a different window tommorow. This is just enough to be an oddly shaped lap quilt, I'm going for queen size with overhang. Over 500 one inch hexies, hand sewn. Not bad for my first quilt, and just jumping into it. (I credit @JennyMSQC from @missouriquiltco quilting videos, and late night nursing. When she had @suedaleydesigns on showing EPP, I was hooked. Spent the whole next day thinking of how I could do it. And clearly it hasn't stopped. 😆) #WorkingMyStashOff#GreatBritishQuilter
About to sew a few sheets together, and wanted to share a progress shot. This gives me another burst of motivation, roughly 300 one inch hand sewn hexagons. Only a few thousand to go! This far I've found a few things that work for me, and I'm still on the hunt for a good thread. I have a thread wax I'm obsessed with, just looking for that magical thread. Oh and my needle minder, I seriously adore that. I keep it on my thread wax lid and it's a brilliant duo. Besides that I love the connections and friendships I've made since starting this. I can at this point tell what hexies came from who, and that makes this future quilt so much more special. 🖤 #WorkingMyStashOff#GreatBritishQuilter
