You Want What You Can’t Have.
Do you have food sensitivities? Have you found yourself unable to give up said foods? Does it seem like the foods you “can’t” have are the foods that you want the most? In fact, does it seem as though your food intolerances are actually your food cravings?
Food cravings. We all have them… the cravings that compel us to eat an entire bag of chips and cookies. The cravings that lead us to downing a jar of peanut butter and a loaf of bread. The cravings that cause us to fail time after time when trying to eliminate gluten, lactose, sugar, or whatever it may be… These are the cravings that cause us to feel weak and unable to make a change. However, your inability to combat these cravings do not indicate weakness. In the case of food sensitivities, food cravings are actually the result of a physiological reaction.
Food sensitivities differ from food allergies due to the fact that a food sensitivity produces slower acting antibodies (IgG), which may cause bloating, gas, neurologic problems, arthritis, fatigue, inflammation, etc. hours or days after consumption. As a result, when a reaction to a food sensitivities occurs, stress is placed on the body and the body begins to produce addictive brain chemicals like endorphins. In turn, we feel good and begin to crave more… So, we eat more and feed the reaction, producing more chemicals and creating a vicious cycle of damage.
That said, not all food cravings are lies. Our body communicates its needs by allowing us to crave certain foods. However, if you find your self craving a food that is known to cause a reaction, then this may be a valid explanation. In fact, Endorphins may be the very reason that giving up your bread, cheese, eggs, peanuts etc. sounds so torturous.
So, what do you do with this information? Well, for one, I think understanding the physiological reasoning behind your cravings is empowering in itself. However, when that is not enough and a craving for your food sensitivity arises, take a moment to asses the situation. Determine if there is an underlying cause:
▪️Are you stressed or upset?
▪️Is your blood sugar low?
▪️Are you thirsty?
▪️Are you acting out of habit?

Además de ser un alimento que súper recomiendo por ser alto en fibra soluble, azúcares complejos y dar mucha energía me maravilla que crezca en nuestro país y tener la posibilidad de conocerlo tan de cerca.

Just chop and bake sweet potatoes place on parchment paper at 425 f for about 30 - 35 minutes.

1 jar 7 oz of tomato paste (no additives)
2 tbs raw honey
Juice 1 lemon 🍋
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp onion powder
Stir and serve !

Here’s a yummy smoothie I made at home-I drank it on the patio with the sun 🌞 on my face!
Mint 🍃🍫Chocolate Smoothie:
Handful of organic spinach
Handful of organic kale
One whole frozen banana-adds sweetness (and great way to prevent brown banana waste by freezing!)
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk @califiafarms
Fresh mint (add less or more according to taste)-I used about 4-5 leaves
3 tbsp raw cacao nibs @navitasorganics (extra for topping)
Throw all in blender until desired consistency! Enjoy!

Full on vegetarian feasting at an organic farm with all the Cuban delicacies; plantain chips, salad, taro root, eggplant and the best rice and beans I’ve ever had. Oh, and unbelievable freshly squeezed pineapple juice. 🍍 It’s definitely possible to eat great vegetarian food in Cuba 👍🏼
