“No tocamos el piano con nuestros dedos, sino con nuestra mente” - Glenn Gould. A medida que pasan los años me voy dando cuenta de que es así, al menos para mi también. #glenngould#gg#piano#gift#life#music @glenngouldfndn @goldenglenngould
My “Black Pearl”, V.A.R.I.AT.I.O. #25 has just been awarded with the Bronze Award at the #oneeyelandaward 🖤🖤🖤
the Black Pearl, Var. 25. A journey in the sidereal vacuum where the Black Pearl resides; a special vacuum where the only sound is the music of J.S.Bach, the #GoldbergVariations . Drops of beauty performed by #GlennGould , the pianist who inspired my V.A.R.I.A.T.I.O.N.S. project. The Black Pearl, as the center of the universe darkness, an intimate pole of love and beauty.

If someone asked me (which no one has because, indeed, who cares what I think about music) what is the greatest melody produced on Earth ever, I’d say it’s this one, definitely. #bach#goldbergvariations#glenngould
This morning with Glenn Gould listening Petula Clark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_m4Qb0iW-o
It is almost a miracle that Gould never had a serious accident or lost his licence: he regularly drove through red lights, turned where he shouldn’t have done, crossed double white lines when overtaking other drivers and frequently exceeded the speed limit. His black Lincoln Continental, which he called “Longfellow”, was a well-known, not to say notorious, sight in Toronto. On one occasion the police stopped him for driving erratically: he had been gesticulating wildly while conducting a Mahler symphony that was on the car radio. “Let’s go and do my favorite thing,” Leonard Bernstein reports him as saying, adding: “So we went down and got into his car, he being wrapped up in all his furs and gloves and hats, with all the windows up, the heat turned on full blast, and the radio tuned to a good music station, also full blast. I said, Do you do this often? He said, Every day.” His favourite pastime was to drive north along the Queen’s Highway 17 for hours on end at night until he reached some truck-stop motel or Burger King. It was a road trip to the anonymity of a world far removed from urban pressures. #GlennGould#lincolncontinental#cars#amazing#classy#style#pianist#iconic#canadian#retro#backandwithe#driving#goldbertvariations#travel#Toronto#classiccar

At the initial point of inception, the Forde Music Group made a request for Blueprint Cinematic to create a preliminary schematic of the story, action, stage picture and transitions of our production. These preliminary notions are helpful in articulating the overall direction of our intended purpose and can often help to guide the work flow, moving forward. Once a skeletal structure is agreed upon the real fun can begin. With all of our collective research, inspiration and artistry in the room – the visual, sonic and conceptual elements can be shaped into story. A desire for rich texture, nuance and an attention to detail inspired us to contend with Afrofuturism, the Northern Lights, the Residential schooling system, Japanese-Canadian internment, Nation building, Reconciliation, Contrapuntal composition, “North” as a metaphorical representation for abundant and refined creation within isolation, Solitude, refinement of the clay in the room… the list goes on and on and time quickly reminds us of its essential value. Sometimes these pieces of the puzzle provided our team with brief flourishes and encouraging reminders, at other times, major elements required sharp consideration and heavy lifting. In total, 33 concepts and there blueprints for potential compositional inclusion were relayed to our client and that list was then refined to solidify the conceptual foundation of the story created for Ideas Of North. Deconstructing a story concept empowers a creative team and its collaborators to endow elements of the creation process with a unique understanding, familiarity and subsequent mastery of their work – from the ground up. The application is vital. It enables us the ability to modulate the scope, rearrange our ideas, zoom in and zoom out, alter our perspective and draw attention to what we feel is most satisfying, entertaining and essential in our story. Blueprint Cinematic is proud to have provided Andrew Forde this sounding board, consultation and concept architecture. We are honoured to be included in this celebration of Black History and inspired to see all the elements of Mr. Forde’s creation come together on this very special night.

A stance on art (nay, life itself), ostensibly hard-earned through countless nights of meditation on human condition, a far cry from our quotidian one. An informed eulogy to disciplined life. (quoted in Michael Dirda, “Book by Book”) #glenngould#discipline
