Garnet is getting dark as she approaches shedding! 💕 Not only is shedding essential for a snake's growth, shedding can also be a good indicator of health and husbandry practises.
Incomplete or improper shedding is referred to as dysecdysis and is most commonly associated with poor husbandry or improper nutrition. Other causes may include: external parasites, infections, dermatitis, malnutrition, over-handling and improper lighting, temperature or humidity.
Incomplete sheds or remaining patches of skin can be removed by soaking your snake in a lukewarm bath to help dislodge the remaining patches of skin. Ensure that eyecaps and excess skin left on the tail are removed also so that they don't become infected.
Remember to love and care for your scaly friends! ❤
