I totally forgot I was doing this. Continuing with self indulgent facts about Saya, #3 ...
I'm severely, acutely introverted. Not like "an extroverted introvert" or whatever it is they say. I could spend months not seeing another human soul outside of work (and I have) and be just fine. I would make a good hermit. That doesn't mean that's healthy, though, so I consciously remind myself to make sure I'm socializing. It might sound ironic given I'm a SOCIAL worker, but I think that might actually contribute to it - when 100% of your working life is spent directly interacting with people, you don't tend to have a lot of social energy left over. But, it's important. People need people. So I've had to create kind of rules for myself as I've grown to be able to tolerate it, like:
▪I pretty much limit myself to saying yes to 1 social engagement a week. More than that and I'm exhausted and miserable for days. I even budget for it.
▪NEVER depend on anyone for transport/escape. I always have my own way OUT so I can leave when I'm ready. Nothing worse than feeling stuck.
▪Arrive early so you can leave early. This is especially good in Mexico when no one arrives early, so I can get private time with the host for a couple of hours and then leave when all the strangers start arriving.
▪Always have a book in my purse. 15 minutes reading alone in the bathroom is a great breather.
▪2 hours is a sufficient amount of time to spend with anyone anywhere.
▪Never agree to any non-work event (and actually I've never been to a work holiday party) where I'm going to have to meet more than 1 (2 MAX) new people at once. Christmas with the in laws is the only exception and tbh it's fucking horrible.
▪Walk everywhere with head down so if I run into someone I know I can pretend I didn't see them (very useful in gto).
I sound like such a Scrooge 😂 But it's actually the opposite, having these boundaries for myself allows me to keep loving people as fully as I really, truly do.
With that said, I think I'm keeping my secret jungle spots to myself. 😂😂😂 Sorry y'all. BUT DM me and I will totally help you plan!!! 💪💪💪🌿

my last and sweetest host in cali. he and his wife opened a hostal few weeks ago and made their dream come true. unfortunately his wife couldn‘t be in this picture. the way they cared and their love for each other touched my heart. i felt so welcomed. they sat with me having breakfast, washed my clothes and packed a sandwich for my bus tour before i left.
they also live in the hostal and one day the whole family came by and everyone sat and ate together. that made me so happy.
you find the hostal in san antonio in cali. whenever you go there: tell them a warm hallo from „jacky from germany“. 🖤
