Four layers of fluffy asian style chiffon cake, filled with whipped cream and covered in colourful fruits. I baked four separate cakes to fill this, but I made many mistakes so the fluffy chiffon texture didnt form until the 3rd cake. We ended up with two fluffy layers and two dense layers. But in the end, the sweet whipped cream and fruit made up for it 🥝🍋🍓.
Use a ratio of 2 cups water for every 1 cup of dry lentils.⠀
1. On the stove, over high heat, bring lentils and water to a boil in an uncovered pot. ⠀
2. Then, stir, cover, and reduce heat to lightly simmer. You’ll want to see only a few small bubbles and slight movement in the lentils. ⠀
3. For green or brown lentils, they will take a little longer about 20-40 minutes. ⠀
4. For red lentils, can take as little as 10 minutes. ⠀
5. Check periodically, and add more water, if necessary. ⠀
Lentils should be tender with a slight bite, but not crunchy when they have finished cooking.

The best thing about making temaki rolls at home is that you can put anything you want in yours, and boy did we have a spread. Check out @girlsandbuns and @sharonpchan colourful sushi cones. I filled mine with tempura, lettuce, cucumber and kewpie (kewpie ❤ 4ever).

Happy friends gathering to my lovely friend @sharonpchan. My girl @jacquelinenewland and I cooked up a Japanese feast to celebrate. We made all the fillings for temaki rolls including tuna and salmon sashimi, cooked tuna mayo, corn mayo, tamagoyaki, seafood sticks, fresh vegies, avocado and glutinous sushi rice. Plus chicken karaage, prawn tempura, camembert tempura, vegetable tempura and miso soup! 🍣🍤🍙

Camoflaged avocado. 😉 By far the greenest bowl I've ever made, with steamed romanesco and broccoli, edamame, lettuce, microgreens, cucumber, and cabbage. (Didn't have green cabbage but I like a bit of color contrast anyway.) I repurposed some leftover hummus into a green sauce by throwing it in the blender with a couple of handfuls of spinach, a bit more salt, lemon juice, and some water to thin it down.
What do you think? Too green, or should I have done 100% green? 💚

Breakfast today from the corporate cafe. Veggie omelette and potatoes, not bad. Visually not so appealing but I tried 🤷♂️. Up late working on my photo project - eventually an image will appear here!
