"Freddie and I saw the first Ziggy gig at Friars Aylesbury. We drove down in my MINI. We loved it. I'd seen him there about three weeks before in the long hair and the dress. Suddenly you see this spiky head coming on stage- you thought whaaat?? They looked like SPACEMEN." ~ROGER TAYLOR~
Truth is there were a lot of important people at this legendary Ziggy show. RCA spent $25,000 That's a fortune by today's standards on flying out to the UK the coolest of the Rock magazine press and others to witness the new era in Rock- the Glamrock Martians and Ziggy their leader. Creem magazine was there. I remember having a subscription to that mag back in the day.
PHOTO of Bowie at the Friar's Club being nearly pulled off the stage (who could blame them?) In July 1972.... We know what happened just a year later don't we? ☆☆☆☆
