I struggled to stand up, my ears rung like church bells on a Sunday morning. All around me was black dirt and behind me a large crater. I could hear muffled pops inside my ears and thought my eardrums have burst. I could also hear a scream coming from far away, as if the one yelling was inside a tunnel. The thought hit me like a thunderbolt: Ivansky. I had to find my comrade, make sure he is alive, I turned around and saw him standing behind me. He grabbed and shook me, I came back to my senses rapidly.
"FEDOR!" He yelled as he shook me violently. "WAKE UP! THE GERMANS!"
"Stop shaking me Dima, I can see it myself."
"We must get the others, the Germans are launching an assault." Ivansky said as he pointed towards the foggy treeline where several silouhettes and flashes of light could be seen. "Go get the others, I'll hold them off." "With what? " He asked me surprised. "A cap gun?"
"DON'T WASTE TIME!" I yelled and ran towards the bomb crater fom where I decided to lead the defense.
I held my pistol out in front of me and waited for a target to get in sight. I didn't have to wait long before a middle aged soldier appeared at the end of my barrel. I fired. My bullet whirled in a straight line towards him and took a chunk of flesh out of the German's neck and out flew a stream of blood that spurted with his heartbeat. His heart must've been beating fast for it took less than a minute for him to bleed out. I fired again, this time taking two Germans out without any troubles. The fourth one however, was a hassle to deal with, he had brought with him a grenade launcher and fired at me missing me only by a few meters. As he reloaded behind a patch of tall, white with frost grass I stood up and put two in his chest. He collapsed immediately letting go of his rifle . ⬇Continued Below ⬇ #WW2
