This is a clipping from the newspaper the day I ran my first 5k at 300lbs. They interviewed me because at that point I had already lost 70lbs and had inspired the crowd. I came in dead last but I was surrounded by strangers cheering and urging me on and my mom sobbing at the finish line. It was a big day. I had no fitbit. Someone bought me those shoes because I had none and someone paid for my entry into the race. I had a little mp3 player because I couldn't afford a cell phone. No Instagram. So how did I do it? Because I stopped asking questions and just got my hands dirty. I get so many messages asking EXACTLY how much I eat and EXACTLY how long I run and little details and question after question and I check their pages (I creep on all ya'll) and despite my answers nothing changes. Why? Because you aren't willing to get your hands dirty. You gotta have all the answers first. Well guess what? I literally discovered by diet plan by trying. Just trying. No info, no trainer, barely any money just a desire to change. I knew to stop fast food and I quit smoking and doing drugs and that was a huge help but beyond that I just guessed! I learned! Some of ya'll aren't willing to dive. You just ask and hope I'll say something like "eat 1500 calories and run 20 min a day and you'll make it " but it doesn't work that way. Some days I ran some days I walked some days I did turbo jam some days I cried. I had to dive in and learn what my body needed. My mind screamed that whole race that I was too big for a 5k. That I couldn't do it. That my knees were going to give out. But I finished. And now I'm here with countless 5ks behind me. What is your mind screaming? Tell it to shut up and just get in there. DIVE. LEAP. STOP THINKING AND ASKING AND TRY. I promise you nothing will happen until you do and the mistakes you make along the way? Those are what turn you into a viking warrior.

Can Circuit Training Increase Strength and Muscle?

This type of training involves lifting lighter loads with very short rest periods of time. The lifter moves from one  exercise to the next  in 15 -30 sec (or no rest)  and completes a series of circuits. The weight is usually around 40-60% of 1Rm which equates to 10-20 reps.
There is a moderate  Increase in cardiovascular capacity compared to traditional strength training.
Less time is required since there is little or no rest in between sets.
Since the weights used are pretty light, the strength and muscle gains are minimal compared to traditional training.
Circuit training with heavier loads (>70% 1RM) can increase strength and muscle similar to traditional routines.
