I truly don’t think the wonderment of natural dyeing will ever get old to me. I feel like I’m watching a magic trick each time I see the dye pot simmer and transform into a surprising color. Here are my results from dyeing wool in a eucalyptus bath. I did dip it in a vinegar afterbath to brighten the color up a tad. I used no mordant ahead of time because the eucalyptus leaves contain a natural mordant (tannins) in them, binding the color to the fiber. I got the dye stuff from the photography team at my work after they were done using the greens to style with 🧡 I am hoping to do some foraging soon to find more dye materials.
