Across every nation of Siridae, the titles of "Sir" and "Dame" are held in the highest esteem. Though many hold lands, others simply serve their lord, while still others sell their services to whomever is in need, they all have one thing in common; Knighthood.
Knights are to exemplify the strengths and values of their homelands. Some are knighted for their skill in battle, others for their service to the people. Some are knighted for great deeds, some others for impeccable character.
Once knighted, knights are expected to be at the call of their king, carry themselves nobly, and serve on lordly councils. Those failing in their duties can have their knighthood stripped. There are few shames so deep.
The five kingdoms that observe knighthood also have their own orders for the practice.
In Hodcarn, the most elite knights may join the Order of the Sixwing Guard. Any knight may make a knight.
In Larnach, those that protect the royal family and the Autumn Keep are enlisted into the Order of the Sapphire Sword. Only lords of the land may make a knight.
All the Knights of Narzana belong to the Order of the Goldarrow Rain. Any knight may make a knight.
Knights in Azenfiel ordained in battle may join the Order of the Bleeding Thunder. Any knight may make a night.
Those knighted in the service of the King of Malros belong to the Order of the Verdant Bull. Only the king can make a knight.
Make note of any that stand tall regardless of stature, bold regardless of fortune, and nobly regardless of standing. You may be in the presence of a knight.
It was a unique and pleasant experience to stay at this 300 year old home that has been passed down generations of the Olappamanna family. Aside from being the most welcoming hosts, they have made significant contributions in the fields of Kathakali, arts, classical music, literature, vedic education (including the translation of the Rig Veda) and Sanskrit learning. Lordship of Ireland
The #Lordship of #Ireland (#Irish : #Tiarnas na #hÉireann ), sometimes referred to retroactively as #NormanIreland , was a period of #feudal rule in Ireland between 1177 and 1542 under the King of #England , styled as Lord of Ireland. The lordship was created as a Papal possession following the #Norman#invasion of Ireland in 1169–71. As the lord of Ireland was also the king of England, he was represented locally by a governor, styled between 1660–1922 as the #Lord#Lieutenant of Ireland.
Ostensibly, the lordship extended throughout all of Ireland. However, in reality, the king's rule only ever extended to parts of the island. Areas under #English rule expanded and retreated over time. Many areas remained separate and outside English rule until the 16th century.
The fluid political situation and feudal system allowed a significant amount of practical autonomy for the #Hiberno -Norman nobility, who carved #earldoms out for themselves and had almost as much authority as some of the native #Gaelic kings. The period was brought to a close by the creation of the #KingdomOfIreland in 1542.
