02.22.18: ||Comparison kills|| •
If I'm being honest, I, like many others struggle with comparison. I wouldn't necessarily walk around admitting it, but when I stop and look at myself and the way that I live, I notice just how consuming it is. I would say that I'm a pretty confident person, but that doesn't mean that I don't doubt or compare myself to others. Questions constantly arise, causing me to second guess or doubt myself, and let's be real, it gets draining. •
As a society, we have this "perfect" image in our head. To be liked, to be valued, to be seen, and to be heard, we must live up to that standard, and almost always, we end up failing because we are imperfect people trying to live up to an unattainable standard. •
As humans, we don't like to admit our faults or weaknesses. We don't like to share things that make us look weak or broken. We don't like to expose ourselves or be vulnerable with others, out of the fear that it will change their opinion of us. •
I just want to tell you how worthy and deserving you are. You deserve happiness, success, love, and most importantly, you deserve the chance to get up each morning, look yourself in the mirror, and feel confident and secure in who you are and how you were created. Comparison is hard. Self-doubt is hard. Living for others is hard. It buries itself deep inside of you and eats away at you, little by little, piece by piece. It breaks you in ways that you didn't know possible, and holds you back from living up to your full potential. •
Each of us were created and crafted by a perfect God, with a perfect image of our future, and until you realize that, comparison will continue to eat away at you. It will tell you that you aren't good enough. It will tell you that someone else is more deserving. It will tell you that your standards are too high, but it's not true. You yourself are a masterpiece. You were made to do more than just live for others. You were made to share your gift, to make people laugh, to bring a smile to someone's face, to entertain, to encourage, and to support. You were made to live your life knowing that every part of you is good enough and worth sharing. You were made to be "you".

Knowing I may not get another chance, I made it a point to stop at the 24th St. Foot Bridge last night on my way home from the airport. Though sunset didn't manage to break through the heavy clouds, I had a blast catching the beautiful Minneapolis skyline with the hustle and bustle of cars going to and fro underneath.
