Raw Chocolate Smoothie

Every now and then, I'm craving for something sweet.  There's always an alternative to processed made sweets such as this raw chocolate smoothie.  Everything that's good for you and still tastes delicious! Who says you can't eat sweets on a plant based diet?  Try this, you won't be disappointed.  You can always up the cacao powder if you want a more intense chocolaty taste but this portion was just enough for me.

Ingredients:
1 cup almod milk
1 1/2 frozen bananas
1/2 avocado
1 tablespoon cacao powder
1 date
Dash of vanilla

The problem with store bought mayo is that it's highly processed with additives and unhealthy fats as the main ingredient (canola oil or soybean oil which contain GMOs).Instead, make your own mayo and even dressings which is a lot healthier and eliminates any source of processed foods.

Something I want to touch on though is that the past decade or so, fitness and health have become disconnected. A lot of people have a poor understanding of nutrition but believe because they are on a "meal plan" (eating the same thing everyday) and taking (really bad) supplements then they're healthy. My passion and hope is that I can help connect the two again and show people how their nutrition and gut health is more important than those hours of cardio they're doing a day (and also get them to stop doing hours of cardio a day 🙄). Today I posted in my stories a @mindpumpmedia podcast that everyone should listen to, but especially women. So often, and I have fallen victim to this too, we have so many negative thoughts about our body because we see these women who are competing and at a lower body fat and we want to look like that so badly. That lifestyle is not maintainable and it usually obtained by very unhealthy  methods.

A lot of people have a poor understanding of nutrition but believe because they are on a "meal plan" (eating the same thing everyday) and taking (really bad) supplements then they're healthy. My passion and hope is that I can help connect the two again and show people how their nutrition and gut health is more important than those hours of cardio they're doing a day (and also get them to stop doing hours of cardio a day 🙄). When we sleep we allow the body to repair, restore, and refresh itself so we can function at our best. When we rob ourselves of this precious process our bodies have no choice but to operate at a less than optimal level. Um, no thanks, I need all the help I can get! Poor quality sleep most noticeably impacts brain function, physical and emotional well-being, and is strongly linked to weight gain! Now I’ve got your attention. So how do we improve our sleep? Here are a few easy to implement strategies to better sleep:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Adhere to a regular sleep schedule. Ideally going to bed around 10pm and no later than 11pm and waking when the sun rises.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Sleep in complete darkness. Do your best to eliminate any light in the bedroom.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Keep the temperature of your bedroom on the cooler side.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4. Limit caffeine consumption after 1:00pm.

5. Here’s the hardest but most useful of them all: Stop using electronics (yes, ALL of them) an hour before bed. I know you think it helps you unwind, but science tells us it actually does the opposite.

Knocked up a (in my humble opinion) quite tidy jambalaya and followed it up with some quite tidy cacao brownies (made with kidney beans! 😯) together with some amazingly tasty dairy and fat-free salted caramel ice cream. I’m so close to Onederland! It’s been way too long since I can remember being under 200lbs. I’m just 6lbs away from my high school average weight. I’m so excited and happy that I’ve been making such great progress! The best part is that I’m not hungry!
