🌟Day 71🌟Dinner- went out with my parents to celebrate my birthday last week. Made the best choice I could- fillet steak cooked on hot stone (therefore no oil or butter)baked potato and side salad no dressing. The chips in the pic are my other half’s in case you think I’m telling porkies!😂 I also gave the sauces to my dad. Delish! Current mood:🥩 #SlimmingWorld#slimmingworldireland#slimmingworlduk
And so it begins; hitting these next two weeks H A R D in the nutrition aspect along with @fitnvirginia50 training me hard! Over half way through the challenge and looking to drop a lot more 💪🏼. #BringItOn#CleanEating
I went to @firejacksuk for dinner tonight with my beautiful @dominiquelouisebaker 💃🏼💃🏻 I was happy with my choices as I picked one of the dishes with the lowest syns/cal. I did cave and have halloumi sticks to start 🤦🏻♀️But for main I had steak, mushroom and peppers skewers, 🌽 and one flatbread. It's probably all over 15 syns but I saved 5 from yesterday, all of today's and Ill have no syns tomorrow just to safe 🎉 #eatingouthealthy#slimmingworld#daysortofonplan#brightonmarathon2018#fitnessmotivation
💃🏻🔥Nothing like some camarones al mojo de ajo (garlic shrimp) when eating out at your local taqueria!😍 🍤
Lucky for us Californians🌞, there is tons of yummy & fresh Mexican food in our area, so a lot of the time it's a go-to me for me if I'm blown out from the day😴 & don't feel like cooking.🙅🏻
I try to order dishes with lots of yummy protein sources like shrimp, chicken, pork, or fish🦐🐟. I also like to order plates because they usually come with some veggies and beans on the side. 🍅🥑🌱I also opted out of eating the sour cream to avoid extra saturated fats ... At this point I actually think plain Greek yogurt tastes better with Mexican food, go figure.🌯
This plate was SO good man ugh I already want to go back and get it again soon, all that garlic!😍😍 #garlicislife#steviasistas#camarones
There’s no hiding it...Jeff and I love going out to eat and having a beverage 😍
But when you’re really trying to scale back and eat extremely clean...it can be a challenge...but, it can be done!
Last week I went out to The Cheesecake Factory and found this lovely gem on the menu!
Be a detective, ask for for things on the side, done your way, or swapped...and gain the confidence that you CAN still have a social life!!
This was called the Thai Lettuce Wraps..I swapped the chicken for shrimp and made sure what I ate was portioned! It was a great post workout meal!❤️💚💛🥄
Where’s your fave place to eat? Have you seen what healthy options they offer or that you can create from their menu?

“What you eat is the single most important thing you do every day to affect the health of your body and mind”
Mark Hyman. Food, what the heck should I eat?
Besides the bacon (it’s a treat for me) everything on this plate is nourishing my body. Greens, nuts, seeds, eggs, no dairy, no grains, no refined sugar (minus bacon). You can choose healthy options while eating out and I made this slightly unhealthy by adding bacon as a side( like I said it was a treat) This is a lifestyle not a 30 day challenge. #youarewhatyoueat#eatingouthealthy
Cooking home is the best choice, always but sometimes we just need a little break, go out and enjoy being treated. This was my feast after the fast, (and a late Valentine’s treat) and I think we just found the perfect place in Dallas where I can have a good time and where eating #plantparadox compliant is not an impossible mission. ✨I think one of the hardest things to give up when going on this lifestyle is not certain foods per se, but the entertainment, the social part of eating, the going out. But what I noticed now when we go out rarely, is that we appreciate the occasion even more, it means something. It’s also more rewarding, and we feel like we deserved it. At least this is how I feel ☺️. How hard was for you to give up eating out? Do you live in a place where is easy to eat compliant in a restaurant? I wish we can put together a list with restaurants in all cities around the world where it’s easy to eat lectin free or at least low lectin, that would be something right? Maybe you can comment with a place in your city where you go so we can benefit from this knowledge, in case we travel there? I start with adding @watergrill who has 4 restaurants in California (Santa Monica, San Diego, Orange County, LA) and one in Dallas.
BIG leg workout today followed by some awesome eats 😋
Been upping squat weight for 5 sets of 7 bit by bit over the past few weeks, started at 60kg and excited to get 70 on the bar in a couple weeks time....these and lunges have zapped my mental and physical energy today though so more food needed, and I was rediculously happy for a lunch date ft. Giant size sushi 🍣🌯 = SUSHIRITTO!!! 🙌🙌 Can swipe to see workout 🏋
Food is from Pokè bar in central Bristol - I ordered the salmon and asked for kimchi instead of mayo 😊
The Lettuce Inn Team would like to wish all our friends a Happy Valentine’s Day. 💘 We wish you a day of love and delicious goodies to share with those you love. Thank you for always supporting @TheLettuceInn.
I posted a couple days ago about eating out, so I figured I’d share what I ate when I went out to dinner not long after (and ironically.....it’s very similar to the pic I had shared!😁).
This meal was from a PUB! There were plenty of sandwich and burger options, but I opted for the salmon that was served with a cauliflower and snap pea mixture over puréed butternut squash. I knew I wouldn’t be getting any carbs with it (since this is how the meal was served) so we ordered a pretzel loaf to go with! 😜 In order to stick to my goals, I knew I couldn’t stuff myself with the pretzel load bc I was indulging a bit by having, not one, but two glasses of wine. 🍷🥂
Eating out really helps you practice what trade offs. If I really wanted a burger and fries instead, then I would have avoided the bread, had a few fries, and then *probably* skipped the wine. But, let’s be real, I will almost always choose healthy food so I can have the wine. 😜
And, at the end of the day, if dinner went to crap and I totally overindulged, well then I move on because tomorrow is a new day!
DETROIT friends... there is a new chef in town 👉🏽 @safflowerstreet she catered my Super Bowl party and dropped a few dishes off last night 🌱🌱🌱 VEGAN and also specializes in gluten-free as well! If you live in the area and want meal prep/prepared meals and/or amazing desserts check her out 🚨🚨🚨
Eating out can bring anxiety as we have this fear (unwarranted) that all our hard work will come undone in one night. Guess whattttt- I'm here to not only tell you that all your hard work WON'T be erased in one evening & there actually some super easy ways to stay even more on track while dining out.
Head on over to my latest blog (link in bio!) to read my tips for staying on track while still enjoying your night out!
So, go enjoy the food. The wine. The atmosphere. The company. You deserve it!!
Chicken fajita omelette from @ihop 👅 it was soooo amazing, but I stayed strong and only ate half🙌🏻 also switched out the pancakes for fruit on the side and only drank water💦Super proud of myself! #healthychoices#eatingouthealthy#nsv
HOW TO EAT HEALTHY AT ANY RESTAURANT 🍋🍹 I just posted a new VLOG from my holiday in Byron Bay. I ate at restaurants 80% of meals in January and didn't gain a pound, just by making a few simple swaps and hacking the menu 🙏🏼💕 A couple of my faves... ALWAYS CHECK THE MENU
Then you can go into dinner feeling confident about your order and what swaps you can make to make your meal healthier 🍋
DRESSING ON THE SIDE
This is the oldest trick in the book. I don't care how many people rolls their eyes at me. You can save up to 700 calories, which sounds like three skinny MARGS to me 🍹🍹🍹 ONE COCKTAIL THEN SWITCH
Always have a cocktail but make it SKINNY. No sugar, no agave. Then boring vodka or tequila sodas or white wine for the rest of the night. Less sugar, less CALS, less hangover. You're welcome 😘
For more tips check out my vlog! Link in bio 😘💕
Swipe for all the pics. 👆🏻 We had dinner with their Grandpa tonight. My Dad's favorite place is this Vietnamese Pho restaurant and he wanted to treat us. I had chicken and veggies with no noodles (gave the carrots to my oldest) and it was delicious! The kids had a regular chicken and noodles Pho bowl and some rice (they don't have high carbs very often), and they also had these "juice" drinks. I didn't know it wasn't actually going to be juice, but when they were brought to us I didn't worry about it because it's rare that they ever have anything other than water. And I had unsweetened Jasmine Green Tea with my noodle-less bowl.
It’s always a good day when I get to have @boosterjuice ! I love that this snack size pomegranate passion is only 140 calories also 😍 plus I had to get a chipotle chicken panini to go with it (330 cals). It’s so helpful because they’re one of the places that puts their calorie counts up. I almost got a different smoothie then I saw the calorie count and switched gears. Plus it helps you stay away from those tricky calorie dense choices. The panini is huge and yet the smaller wrap is actually MORE calorie. Which you would probably never guess if you couldn’t see those counts up front. I really wish that every restaurant could do this, though I know it’s not as feasible for small businesses. But it really does help. The more I look at labels when I buy food, the more I think about how much I was missing when I wasn’t reading labels 😖 anyway! That’s my calorie counting when eating out rant for the day and my first morning Insta post. Maybe I’ll have something to post later too 🤔 #caloriecounting#boosterjuice#smoothie#eatingouthealthy
morning ☀️ this is why ... I often get asked what motivates me ... it’s my morning reflections and/or sunset sporting session ... whenever life is hard ... I think back to these times ... and know the pain is only temporary ... what calms you ... what turns life off ? find time to honor those moments 🙏🏽
Today is National Pizza Day. Perfect day to come into @TheLettuceInn for a slice of our delicious Raw Vegan Healthy Pizza. It’s so good. Come in today and meet raw chef, Natalie Barber, and enjoy a piece of pizza or order a custom whole pizza for pick up. I bet you can’t just have one slice. . . It is definitely guilt free.
Do you find eating out a challenge? My kids and i love finding organic farm to table restaurants. When I travel I use the Yelp app often. I like to search different variations of subjects like organic, farm to table, grass fed burgers, free range chicken, gluten free, vegan, and often i will find the same restaurant keep coming up. Then check the reviews! If your thinking sweet potato fries are healthy, be sure to ask what oil they use to deep fry! Most restaurants use inflammatory oils (corn, soybean, safflower, peanut) etc. ( canola is a controversial one- i prefer to avoid) This is a grilled free range chicken breast with sautéed onions & mushrooms & avocado in a lettuce wrap (plenty of protein & healthy fat to sustain my energy for the afternoon) #eatingouthealthy#lunchontherun#glutenanddairyfree#iinhealthcoach
Let’s talk Mexican good. Fried tortillas, sour cream covered burritos, cheese stuffed quesadillas.... so tempting but also so unhealthy. Good news, it doesn’t have to be!
Here are some of “healthy tips” for guilt free dining:
1. Instead of sour cream, opt for avocado which contains lots of healthy fats!
2. Beware of taco bowls, those crunchy fried shells are stuffed with extra calories
3. Opt for a half portions of rice and beans or ask for a side salad instead. Watching your salt intake? There’s a ton of sodium hiding in those sides!
4. Limit your mindless munching on chips and salsa. The calories and fat add up fast!
5. Many Mexican dishes are unexpectedly fried, be wary of “chalupas, chimichangas, tostada, taquitos etc” . If your not sure if something is baked or fried, ask!
6. Don’t be afraid to modify a menu item. Want to skip the cheese? Maybe no sour cream? Or add avocado and fresh salsa? Just ASK! Restaurants are usually very accommodating.
So what would I suggest ordering?
*Grilled, baked, roasted or steamed steak, fish, vegetables or chicken
*Burrito bowls (be careful with toppings)
*Fresh salsa and guacamole *Fajitas-Chicken or shrimp *Hard shell CORN tacos (soft shell are often fried, but in general corn tacos are a better choice then flour ones!)
Hope you all have a great weekend and get to enjoy lots of healthy and delicious food!
