World Puppetry Day is March 21st and the members of the Wisconsin Puppetry Guild are celebrating by sharing photos with puppets every day this week.
I built this tabletop-style Don Quixote puppet in 2016 as my final project for the Advanced Materials & Techniques class at UCONN (part of the online Graduate Certificate in Puppet Arts program). Body and limbs are wood, strung with elastic; face is a latex cast over a neoprene head (with crepe wool hair); armor is painted brass and leather.
Take part in our World Puppetry Day celebration and share your own Puppet-a-Day photo. Don’t forget to tag Wisconsin Puppetry Guild so we can all join in the fun together!
I am coming near the end of a classic, written long ago, centuries ago, in a time before editors were invented. I kid. It’s a long-ass book. Written by a Spaniard.
I purchased this print in Spain at the Museu Picasso de Barcelona in 1992. Finally getting around to reading, #DonQuixote .
Picasso created this drawing for a French journal celebrating the 350th anniversary of the #Cervantes masterpiece in 1955.
