Every time @ourhappyshack brings in a house guest there is someone very important behind the scenes helping me every step of the way. I couldn't ask for a more supportive human to be by my side. And that's the thing - I don't have to ask... he supports me regardless of how crazy (I mean passionate 🤣) I am about the dogs.
So here's a few reasons why you should donate to his fundraising efforts for @angelcitypits:
1. One time I said I needed to help 10 one week old puppies that needed to be bottle feed. He took 2 hour shifts with me all night until they were weaned.
2. One time a friend and I spent our entire day trying to save a family of dogs from a not so great situation. We were supposed to have a "nice day off." I didn't get home until really late and cried because...feelings. He told me next time to just call him because he could've helped.
3. One time we were planning a super funsie week long vacation birthday trip. I said I needed to help some animals after a hurricane. He came with me and we spent our week working 13+ hour days with over 400 dogs and cats.
4. One time I brought home a dog that didn't exactly trust him too much. I watched him hand feed her and walk her and gain her trust. It took two weeks but they were good friends after that.
5. One, two, three, four (and five and six and seven....) times I'd call him to set up the extra crate. "We have a guest for a little while." I get home and the space is ready.
I could go on and on...but I don't think I have to. He's amazing. Tomorrow, he'll be running for the dogs. (And it wasn't even my idea! 😂) #angelcitypits#donate#run4pits#teamacpb#angelcitypitbulls#acpb

#DaySix Almost there! Today's #rawalignmentchallenge focused on decluttering. Clearing away items that no longer serve you is so important to clearing your mind, increasing your productivity and even improving your overall mood. Having only meaningful or functional items in your life will also help align yourself with your long term goals.
I used to hoard everything. I convinced myself I had a sentimental attachment to all of my belongings and would hold onto useless, broken or just old items. This literally and figuratively weighed me down. There was never order in my living spaces - it always felt messy. Especially with my work, there are many days that I can work from home but because it had always felt so cluttered, I could never focus and would end up driving to work anyway.
So, this past weekend, actually, I went through almost every box, every shelf and every storage bin and got rid of SO MUCH STUFF. How does a 22 year old that has moved like 7 times in the last 4 years have so much crap?? Anyway, I got rid of it. Two garbage bags of clothes, a trash bag of old papers and notebooks from college, products that aren't part of my daily routine...anything I don't use daily...gone.
You guys, I feel so much better. I've been so much more productive at home over the last week. There is order. Next step is my office at work and luckily I already got everything I need to make it not only functional, but promote creativity. I love office supplies y'all 😍
Spring cleaning is real and it feels SO good. If you're not happy in a space, change it! I'm about to rearrange my room too which I like to do every few months for my own sanity. You don't have to go to any extremes like complete minimalism, but letting go of some things is so refreshing! Have you ever done a real spring cleaning? .
We have almost SOLD OUT of the Snuffle Mats in only 12 hours!

I've been following the work of @penandnapkinorg , an amazing small LA nonprofit that helps furnish the homes of families transitioning out of homelessness. Just seeing their photos and videos of the impact they have made on people shows you how little can do so much. Consider donating, sponsoring a family or volunteering. #donate#volunteer#nonprofit#losangeles#homelessness#Repost @penandnapkinorg

“Donations to orphanages fuels an industry that exploits children” -@mindfoodmag ...
Just read an eye opening, perspective shifting article about the realities of serving in/ donating to orphanages overseas and how those of us with good intentions could be fueling human trafficking and adding to the trauma experienced by children in orphanages.
You may be thinking “That’s ludicrous, Narina! I’m a great person, I’ve served in orphanages and/ or it’s all a very lovely, helpful service for those in need and worth the investment.” My response to this is Ludicrous, in this instance, is just an artist, I’m sure you’re a fabulous, kind-hearted person, and this info is the real deal! I also share your disappointment in this reality. I was hoping to do some humanitarian aid travel throughout Southeast Asia after Australia and now this will be more difficult, but not impossible! It just requires us to raise our awareness and extend our compassion- a worthy effort, promise!
There are many documented instances where children are separated from their families by an orphanage convincing the guardians that they cannot afford to care for their children and they would still have access/ visitation to their kids, which is false. Additionally, there are other incidences where children are intentionally malnourished, used for labor, and abused (in every sense of the word). Another valid point that is raised is how the impact of constantly changing caregivers, mentors, etc, affects attachment of the children involved. Affording tourists the opportunity to be highly involved with the kids can give us a wonderful sense of fullfillment, but the cost to the kids may be detrimental as it can exacerbate feelings of abandonment as caregivers fluctuate at a high rate in their lives. ...
I’m by no means saying all orphanages are corrupt, but the existence of even one institution practicing this should be cause for concern, let alone hundreds (or more!)

This guy. Seriously, how has he not been snapped up!? Cool with everyone and everything Kauri just wants a place to call his own.
He would love another dog to hang out with, someone who can take him for a good run each day (he will happily keep up if you are on a bike or horse) and would be perfect for a hiking buddy.
Spending his first few years chained means he still needs to refine a few of the little things like not being ridiculously excited about EVERYTHING but is otherwise pretty perfect.
Good with cats, kids & stock Kauri would make a great farm dog, he just needs somewhere secure for when he is unsupervised as if bored he may start his own adventures.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on adopting our beautiful Kauri.
