SINGAPOREAN FILM COMPETITION SCAM ALERT
Hi @nustudiosfilm, can you justify the 30 to 60 dollar price tag on your short film competition? I read through your rules and requirements and I noticed, your festival is seriously not worth the 30 to 60 dollar price tag, considering it is a themed festival and the entrants only have 55 hours max to complete it.
I am going to break it to you, reality check. You are not Sundance or Tropfest. You are just a cute little student group. You don't get to charge this much for such a small time competition.
You are just preying on innocent, budding Singaporean filmmakers, by making them pay that expensive 30 to 60 dollar submission fee.
Just think about it. That money you demand, Singaporean filmmakers could easily submit to 2 to 3 other bigger name international festivals. Not only that, it is a competition with a time limit, this means these filmmakers will be creating content SPECIFICALLY tailored for your film festival. Content that cannot be sent to other festivals due to their rushed nature and due to their adhering to only your rules.
It is so sad to see your mission statement "The group seeks to foster a culture of filmmaking and film appreciation amongst youth, programming screenings and filmmaking competitions for a wider audience." But yet, your festival reveals itself to be exploiting local and young filmmakers, look, all I am saying is, if you are in it to line your pockets with more cash, just come out and say so. Stop pretending you are 'for the filmmakers'. Absolutely pathetic.
