I went to #CraneRamen for my go dish but ended up going with this.. It was ok compared to my favorite tonkotsu. For some reason my Bowl was smaller than the one in Gainesville but the product was still great. I love @crane_ramen352 and now that is in Jacksonville, I’m a happy camper.. #foodporn#ramen @craneramen904.. Check them out 1029 Park St
It’s only appropriate to feature Crane Ramen JAX first on Bold Belly considering it was their soft opening yesterday. This new restaurant in Jacksonville’s 5 point district has not only maintained, but improved the quality from the Gainesville location.
The Crane Ramen experience is complete only if it includes drinking one of their unique cocktails, ordering an ostumami dish, and topping it off with a ramen bowl. Being a fan of tart, refreshing drinks myself, the JAX location introduced me to a “Central Time” cocktail, which is based around a strong, ginger flavor, and is equally delicious as the Ginger Cooler from the Gainesville location (Gin or Vodka, lemon-ginger syrup, and soda). My otsumami (snack) of choice is their Chicken Steamed Buns. Essentially a Bao, this delicious taco-like appetizer is the bait on Crane’s hook and one of the main reasons for my undying loyalty. The secret is in the rayu mayonnaise that coats the kara-age chicken. This sauce can make roadkill taste like choice meat, and is the perfect combination of savory heat and sweetness to blow the Roasted Pork Belly Steamed Bun (which are also delicious) counterpart out of the water. Trust me, in any other context I would choose pork belly over chicken every time, but the rayu mayonnaise is irresistibly addicting, especially when paired with the perfect acidity of the pickled radish on top. Take my word for it!
My ramen bowl of choice is the Shio, a “Sea salt flavor with a blended chicken and dashi broth topped with snow crab, pork belly, six-minute egg, nori, enoki mushrooms, garlic oil and scallions”. The hefty bowl is an all-encompassing experience of bold flavor, richness, and succulence that is not overpowered by the overtly salty connotation one associates with ramen. Finishing all of the noodles, toppings, and broth will give any grown adult a case of the “itis”, so make sure you are hungry or ready for a nap.
I can’t wait to come back and try the rest of their food!
Let me Shoyu what they’re doing @crane_ramen 🍜
I had only heard myths of @crane_ramen prior to tonight and it was amazing. The broth alone will speak to your soul. A lot of people always ask me about ramen spots and I’m telling you this the one. Brace yourself ramen is coming.
Thank you @chefsteve517 #sendnoodz#craneramen#natedoesfood

I CANT WAIT !
[Shio Ramen, Roasted Pork Belly Steamed Buns, Chocolate Fudge Ice Cream]
This was my final meal of my trip in Gainesville and I was anticipating it to be the BOMB and honestly it did not disappoint! I picked up that bowl and drank from it when I finished my noodles!
NOW Hanger Bay Ramen in Mayport is dope as well (with a fried chicken on the side) as far as Ramen in Jax goes, these two are competition. Now, I havent tried Oishii and Domo in Orlando so don't hate me for my lack of Ramen knowledge, I've only modified my Ramen at home and that's just using instant Ramen... so I'm no expert.
Thanks to my nomnomers and FB peep for looking out!
