Singapore got space to grow food one meh? Why yes, yes, we do, and not just with “high-tech farming”. Yesterday was my 3rd or 4th time harvesting bananas, but you know what? It was no less exciting an experience. The bananas were beginning to split, and the squirrels and birds had started helping themselves, so I decided that it was time to harvest. And so, many of the bananas were split and starting to attract fruit flies, but these bananas also represent the potential for Singapore to grow our own food on land not intuitively set aside for agriculture, in common space in a university hostel. Special thanks to Mustafa for the photo credits, Dilton for being tall and helpful, the Dining Hall and Foreword for providing coffee grounds and fruit waste to use as fertilizer, Uncle Vincent the gardener for providing the dried leaves also as fertilizer and the wonder of Creation for providing food for us. #CAPTgardenadventures#bestCAPTsecret#GardensByTheWay#briansgardenadventures#banana#coffee#fruits#recycling#communityengagement#harvest#squirrel#abundance#permaculture#CAPT
So long, Peoria! What a fantastic time getting to know your community, from teaching kids about singing to recording recitals for television to crashing a speakeasy for a pop-up cabaret... this resident artist week flew by.
Some favorite moments: watching a four-year-old’s eyes light up at their first taste of opera, singing Danny Boy at a senior living facility and hearing voices join in from every corner of the room, being given a spontaneous hug by a child in the middle of a TV taping, and the forever-a-treat joy of making music with Brent Funderburk. It’s been a blast! See you in April for some delicious Martucci songs. ❤️ #naomilouisasings @peoriasymphony @wtvp_pbs #artsforall#thelegendthatisbrentfunderburk#communityengagement#MusicalDiscoveries#PBS#Peoria#musiceducation
Trustee George Chuckvar is at Holy Family School tonight engaging with parents, students and staff! He wants to know what they love about their school, what they would like to see improved and what topics are important to stakeholders. Trustee Chuckvar thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the Holy Family School community and he thanks all stakeholders for their feedback. As a new Trustee, he is diligently learning about the needs of his community so he can better represent them at the board table. #teawithyourtrustee#hfcrd#grimshaw#abed#communityengagement

Today is #WorldWaterDay 🌍💧. While our goal at Valrhona is to halve our environmental footprint by 2025 (including our water consumption), we are proud to have recently raised over $18000 through our "Clean Water Project" to allow the community of Los Ranchos and the Bigote River Valley in Peru (800 people) to have access to clean water. Thank you to all the people who helped us make a difference. 🙏🏼 Learn more about [their] Corporate Social Responsibilities by clicking on the link in [their] profile.
Movies are seen as a universally loved artform that has the ability to cross boundaries of age, gender, and different backgrounds. Two Neighborhood Coordination Officers from the 100th Precinct used the power of film to their advantage by taking part in Cops and Kids on Film. They invited teens from Queens to see the movie "Wonder" where they were able to discuss the movie with the cops afterward. The cops and teens were able to use the movie as a way to get to know each other. The NYPD hopes to continue this program to learn more about the way NYC teens interpret movies and how they can relate to the films.
