This rotational med ball slam (apparently aka Heiden medball slam as I learnt yesterday 🤷🏼♀️) is another great option for working rotational power. It includes the pre load step to work deceleration prior to generating power then it transfers into a rotational med ball slam (swipe left to see a video). It also incorporates that “pivetttt” (insert friends reference here) on the front foot which echoes the way we pivot through one foot when we punch and kick or how we transfer energy when we go for a take down/throw/roll. .
An easy, low skill way to enhance your power transference, rotational power, trunk stiffness (via a reduction in energy leakage) and rotational coordination. Again we can focus more on speed of force production (strength-speed) by using a heavier med ball and increasing the eccentric element of that first step (doing it down hill or down from a low box) whereas we can focus in more on absolute velocity (speed-strength) by keeping that medball light (or reducing the eccentric of the first step by working uphill or onto a low box) and putting everything into making the movement AS FAST AS POSSIBLE (the “intent” is crucial here....!!). .
Give these a go and let me know what you think!!
That “Fuck You” moment to the weight you just battled for 20+ seconds to lockout the last inch.
Are you willing to grind for that last inch? How long are you willing to battle to see yourself win? How supportive are your training partners to give you the motivation to keep pushing? We want to win, how bad do you want to win?
It doesn’t matter where you are now, it’s about how your preparing for where you’re going tomorrow, today. How hungry are you? Is your plate too small, are your eyes big enough? Do your actions aline with what you want to accomplish? Always be ready to accomplish that next task goal or dream. No looking back only looking forward
