Authentic Gujarati Kadhi 💛
I made this three times last week because this horrid cough and cold I caught would NOT go away!
When I was younger - and now too haha - my Mom always used to make this (or turmeric milk!) for me as a light dinner with some rice, when I wasn’t feeling well.
Since I no longer eat dairy yogurt, I substituted it with @lovemysilk Unsweetened Cultured Coconut and it tasted EXACTLY the same!
Listed below are all of the
ingredients I used!
-Silk Unsweetened Cultured Coconut
-Black mustard seeds
-Freshly grated garlic and ginger (these were homemade frozen ones)
The main ingredients are turmeric powder and gram flour!
The gram flour slightly thickens the kadhi when mixed with the water and yogurt.
This dish is often used as a gentle remedy for colds and coughs in Indian culture.
The mixture of spices, coconut yogurt (with live/active cultures!) and the amazing anti-inflammatory properties in turmeric combine to make this one KILLER (of colds) dish!

Personally, I can’t keep anything even remotely unhealthy in the house because I have no self control when it comes to sweets or fried foods 🤤 So stocking up on real foods keeps me in check and my belly happy

My favorite is Maple Hill Yogurt and Stonyfield yogurt and I prefer the Whole Milk versions.
I often have to explain what I'm eating, because it's not always obvious. This is a plate of cinnamon apple scrambled eggs, frozen blueberries and homemade coconut yoghurt, and a random wad of smoked ham. Currently licking the bowl.
