It was a cold night. The coldest it’s ever been. The wind sweeping through our jackets; the ice dancing with frost on our backpacks. Your hands got so cold, you had to bundle them in your pockets. I gave you my gloves even though they were twice the size. I didn’t mind freezing to death as the mood was so much lighter. No matter how my bones shook, your smile kept me fighting. That one long hair always bobbing in front of your left eye. With your new mammoth hands you would stop every five steps to push it aside. The cafes in the city were so full, packed to the brim with sole survivors. Doors would creak and crack as people slipped in and out. Tiny aromas of coffee beans would tease our nose, but we had to go. It started snowing a lot harder. I could barely see in front of myself. So I pretended I knew where we were going but I was quite lost indeed. The most memorable part of that day was the moment we made it to the station.
I brushed off the snow from your hat and wiped off your nose. You turned around and waved; then started to run inside. Not a single word, not even goodbye. I don’t know if it was the pain or the misunderstood. But there I stood like a fool, sitting in the cold. Now that you were gone, I had never been that cold.
Taste the rainbow!
Had an interesting convo with a friend this weekend. Her 33 yr old brother passed away two months ago (diet related health issues) and she remarked how this was not apart of his plan. I hear people say that all the time. We make plans for our futures and set goals for our lives, but we forget to invest in self-care. When we don’t make wellness priorities, we suffer sooner or later. (I didn’t plan on getting diagnosed with stage 4 #cancer it just happened) It’s never expected or even planned. It just happens. #selfcare ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
As you make plans for the week put your health at the top of your TO-DO list.
Do you have the ingredients to make healthy smoothies? ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
Do you have veggies to make healthy lunches and dinners for you and your family this week? ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
Will the food you eat this week add years to your life or shorten the time you have with your friends and your family? ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
Wellness is work, but the alternative could mean ‘it just happened’. Please don’t let ‘it just happen’ to YOU and your family. Make veggie money moves! #Sundaze ✌🏽🤟🏽—That Veggie Gurl
