One of the perks of urban living. Saturday fun run. This one for area Catholic schools. Hear from loudspeakers that 12,000 folks are participating right outside my balcony. #catholicschools#urbanliving#funrun#balcony
St James School congratulates @SetonCatholicNY student Ian Tschang on being selected a 2018 National Merit Scholarship Finalist. Ian one of 15,000 Finalists nationwide, will be considered for one of 2,500 National Merit Scholarships. 🎉👍🏽👏🏽😇🍀 #CatholicSchools#GoSAINTS#GoIan#SAINTSPride#NationalMeritFinalist
The National Merit Selection Committee members review all of the Finalist applications and consider each student’s academic record (including course load, rigor, depth and breadth of subjects studied, and grades earned); the student’s self-descriptive essay, activities, leadership, employment, and contributions to the school and community; in addition to the high school official’s letter of recommendation. The Scholars selected by the Committee are those determined to have the strongest combination of attributes and accomplishments and the greatest potential for future success in college studies and beyond.

#MyOLLFamily Weekly Update
Happy Friday!!! Hopefully families are able to take advantage of the early jump start to the long weekend. Here’s a quick glimpse into this past week here at school. ~In science this week, the third grade constructed their own free-rolling go-carts. They were all given the same materials, and they worked with a partner to design and construct their go-carts. Each came out unique and able to roll down a ramp! ~On Wednesday, we came together as the 2nd grade led Mass for Ash Wednesday. The 8th graders also assisted by helping Father Woody distribute the ashes. ~Studying the Bill of Rights got a little more exciting in 8th grade Social Studies with a few visits from a "friendly" field mouse. We made some seating modifications as we finished out class from the tops of our desks and chairs. Thanks Mr. Askman for relocating our visitor so quickly! ~Our kindergarten and 1st grade classes saw the theater production of Pete the Cat on Thursday. They gave it rave reviews! ~Today, the 3rd graders led our first Lenten participation in Stations of the Cross with some help from a couple of 6th grade candle holders. They did a fantastic job!
Have a great weekend!
Deacon John: "Ashes on your forehead say: I am a sinner, in need of forgiveness. Ashes on your forehead say: Will you help me to be better, because I cannot do this alone. Ashes on your forehead say: Jesus, please help me, I need You to make me better. If we all live the message of Jesus, we will try harder to love one another, to forgive one another, to be better people." #smsmilford#catholicschools#catholiceducation
Our preschoolers got to experience a mock Baptism with Deacon Frank. Students played the roles of Parents, Godparents and family and friends to witness the Rite of Baptism for babydoll Lily. It was a beautiful and blessed experience! #sjsdg#stjosephdg#catholicschools#baptism
Congratulations to our 6th grade Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Team for winning the Our Lady of Fatima School Annual Tyler Ugolyn Memorial Tournament last night with a win against St. Thomas of Fairfield! So proud of these boys who are currently enjoying an undefeated season. #smsmilford#smsjags1718#catholicschoolbasketball#catholicschools
Today we began our 40-day Lenten journey together at our Ash Wednesday Mass, celebrated by our school chaplain Father Jim Dunning. Thank you to the talented Serranade Choir lead by Mrs. Sifers, whose beautiful voices added to the reverence and solemnity of the Mass, and to the Prayer Partners in 1st and 7th Grade, who did a beautiful job of working together to respectfully host the Mass. #catholicschools#sjsc
