I had a thought on my mind this morning. First for how grateful I am for this life we have together (I use the word grateful a lot, which is why I created this shirt), but also about how many people always wonder how we're always finding time to take little trips and travel.
Many friends say that we're ALWAYS on the road, and that we're so lucky. But, we aren't lucky. We CREATE that lifestyle for ourselves.
We actually have 9-5's! We woke up at the beach this morning because we drove after we left work yesterday! So a few things to think about when traveling:
1.) Travel on your weekends! It doesn't have a to be this grandiose trip.
2.) Explore a local town or city! It doesn't have to be some magic far away place.
3.) Like Nike, just DO it. Stop saying maybe next month. Take the damn trip.
4.) Have good company. You can put me anywhere in the world, and as long as I have @josheaton by my side, I am (quite literally) a happy camper.
5.) Get creative with your budget. Don't have a camper? Take a tent. Hotel too expensive? Use Airbnb or VRBO. Adventures come in many shapes and sizes.
Where are your favorite local places to visit? What's your preferred form of vacationing? #morelovemoreadventures 🌲🏕️🏖️
It has been 26 days since Tonto was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Left untreated his life expectancy would have been +/- 4-6 weeks - it's scary to think had we not started him on Chemo that he would be in that window. We were nervous about the treatment this past week as we were told this drug was the hardest in the protocol and I am happy to report that he is doing AWESOME! A lot has changed for him the past few weeks and as with anything Tonto does, he has accepted everything with a waging tail! Things have shifted for us as well as we make him and his health our top priority. About a year ago a friend and I started planning an extended backpacking trip through Asia for this winter. When Tonto got sick it was a no brainer that I would not be making that trip for the length of time I had planned, and it was a seriously reality I might not be making the trip at all. Tonto would always come first! Since Tonto has a break in his treatments, I have changed my plans around to take the trip for a much shorter time. I am leaving next week and I will be home in time for his second round of his next weekly treatments. Meanwhile, Tonto will be safely at home with his Dad and his brother happily awaiting my return. They have some fun “boys weekend” plans and Tonto might even get to go to work a few times! Being my adventure partner for the past 12 years, I know Tonto would want me to go and while I will constantly worry about him, I know he will look forward to all of my stories and smells from my trip. Since I always like to have pictures with him in the places we go, I am bringing along a cardboard cutout of his head so that he is with me and if he needs me at all, I will be on the first flight home! This weekend we are going take advantage of all the new snow and enjoy some time together before I leave! Thank you - from the bottom of my heart - for continuing to think of us and send your love! Some people have asked to see more interior pictures of the van, I will try to take more to incorporate into my feed, but here is one in the meantime! Have a great weekend everyone! — @llbean #LiveLifeOffLeash#campingwithdogs#rescuedogsrock#roamfree#vanlife @project.vanlife

🎥 New video just went up on my YouTube channel (link in bio). Short edit from a day hike up Gertrude Saddle - sickest day hike if you’re visiting Milford Sound. Check it out!

Also, if you’ve just started seeing my photos and have no idea what I do: welcome, and come follow along on Instagram! I travel full-time, work occasionally, mostly just dirtbag, and share my messy, wild and fairly unfiltered life on YouTube. I create (almost) weekly videos, which make absolutely no money, and post photography to Instagram. I have no clue how to professionally do either of those things, but I’m just making it up with an iPhone as I go along. Luckily I love chasing adventures that never go to plan and eating $0.60 ramen, because it’s likely I’ll be totally unsuccessful at this for an extremely long time...
But it’s all about the journey, right??
So anyways, go SUBSCRIBE to my YouTube Channel (it’s free, you know), chuck us a FOLLOW on Instagram, and hit me up if I’m ever adventuring in your corner of the world!
ps. I’m two away from 200 subscribers, and I just waged an incredibly optimistic bet with @wildkiwiadventurer about who could make it to 10k first...
Forget the 10k for now though, and let’s just aim for a conservative 200 subscribers, hey? 🤪
📷 Trying to imagine a time that the ice from this glacier filled the entire valley. Tasman Glacier, New Zealand.
I was out specifically to work with the drone and saw that the light and clouds around Mount Si were looking pretty enticing. Starting driving towards it, turned the corner and found this scene. Ended up working it for a few hours to get the light I wanted, but totally worth it.

My solo trip is coming to an end and that feels really, really good.
I went within to stoke and nurture my fire so that I can light a path wherever I go.
Grateful for this time. Grateful for the newfound strength to bring others with me. Grateful for the transformation and continuation of this journey.
So what d’ya say? You down for phase two? You’re all invited. 🔥
Drop a comment and tell me where your wild heart wanders. ✨
This iconic place. It’s been one of my favourite spots to visit since before moving to Alberta, and I find myself noticing photos of it everywhere. Trashcan banner wraps around Edmonton, or in ads, and movies. We've been rewatching #SOA over the past few months and there’s a GIANT photo of these mountains on a wall in the hospital by the Chapel. I call it out every time I see it. I can’t put my finger on why this place feels so magical, but it’s a see it to believe it and feel it kind of place. If you’re ever near Lake Louise, Moraine is a must, you won't regret it. ✨🌿
