This year marked the 20th anniversary of the television series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” - a show I still consider my favorite of all time. So I did this painting to celebrate the said anniversary. I had every intention of doing it much earlier in the year - but life got in the way and pushed it off for sometime. So while I dealt with not having it finished on the original airdate of the first episode, I really wanted to get it done before the end of 2017. Well I did it… just barely, there’s just over a week left in the year… but I did it! And my fellow hardcore fans of the show will recognize all the characters are their encarnations from the first season of the show and the only villains are from the same season. Yes, there will be other paintings for the other seasons. And yes, Angel too.
Final look at my contribution to Art of the Buffyverse group show at @cfeatures curated by the amazing @medeazorba on display through Sunday, Nov. 26!
My favorite Big Bad from the show was the Master because obviously he was creepy and scary and had the whole tunnel vision world view that so many villains share. He was effective in a way that made Buffy feel vulnerable so when she triumphs with the help of her friends, it was especially satisfying. 🖤👊
Lighting some holy wood to clear the rage after writing that stupid 8 page paper. Also helps to look at my fav peeps while I wait...you know, to calm the internal screaming lol @sarahmgellar @nicholasbrendon @elizadushku #alysonhannigan @mercedesmcnab @jamesmarstersof
